India? How important of a console market is that?

1.2bi people and a economy growing at 6% a year...

Nothing important.

Right and how many of those 1.2 billion people are buying consoles?

If it sells to 0.1% of the populiation it will be more than the 360 sold in Japan.

I see it's totally find to make racist remarks towards Indians. If these comments centered on Africans or women then there'd be blood.

Taste your hypocrisy.

Well to be fair these remarks are only because its a positive sounding Xbox One article snip. There wouldnt be that if it wrere a Sony article.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

1.2 billion people. Even if the amount of people in the country that can actually afford a console is only 5%, that is still more than the population of the UK that can.

A shame that India has other issues and the rich poor divide is rediculously huge.

We have to be careful with the extrapolation here.

Brazil only has 200M inhabitants, but according to newzoo it has the biggest game revenue after USA, EU countrys, JAPAN, CANADA and South Korea. Still, it only has just as much revenue as Spain.

So no, i don't think India has a bigger revenue than UK. The amount of people who will buy the consoles are way lower than 5%. More like 0,5%.

0.5% is still 6mi consoles...

PR is PR. Everyone does it. Besides, he's talking about the features, not system sales.

"For one, we believe our portfolio is far more competitive, not just on the games side, but the stuff we offer from an entertainment perspective. Whether it’s live TV, whether it’s voice commands, whether it’s the entertainment portfolio, I think we are more comprehensive than any other console on the market right now."

The more interesting thing is that he basically confirms that the PS4 has had serious supply issues there until recently. People were scoffing at that when Sony said it but now Microsoft backs them up. Turns out that "there are plenty of units at my Wal-mart lol" doesn't always reflect the global market.

quoted for the truth.

very true, when sony says it sold 10 million through that's also PR

Do I need to make a thread on this?

i can see it now

Yes.  PR can come in several forms, truth and spin are two on them.  We have no reason to believe that the 10 million PS4 units sold to consumers is not the truth.  So there is a difference here.  And this thread has nothing to do with Sony.  So please do not attempt to downplay their success when a valid point has been made that does not favor the PR image of Microsoft.

exactly, that's my point, saying PR is PR is invalidating any difference in reality

I know revenue might not be a good comparison but it is potential that is the key. The Indian economy has been growing even with social and ecomonic divide. It has the highest growth of Billionaires for example. Like China the country has market potential based on numbers alone.

Hmm, pie.

10M solds is a fact being touted to garner good public relations.

most competitive or comprehensive is an opinion at best and seeing the slaughter of xbox in the 13 regions it is released in a pretty unpopular opinion.

but yeah, both PR.   the main difference being that sony's PR is good PR and ms's is fairly laughable and an obvious attempt to try and spin their poor fortunes into something other than the massive failure xbox has been to date.
