Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Ubisoft: Wii U Owners Don’t Buy Assassin’s Creed; More Interested in Just Dance

So much for it being an experiment to see how it goes.

I have a hunch that Zombiu U and ACIII/IV on Wii U are fairly overtracked on this site too.

Not that I think Just Dance is selling all that great on Wii U either, but it's probably a heckuva lot cheaper to port and Ubi Soft probably associates that with the Wii brand just because it sold well on the original Wii.

Oh well. Just Dance will be dead soon enough too.

As a Wii U owner I have to point out that I have never played a single Just Dance game. I do however, have Assassin's Creed 3, so the Ubi boss is just making sweeping generalistic statements.

Ouch.

Um, no.

It's not about just dance or other experiences, it's about games they like. ZombiU sold relatively well though maybe not the numbers Ubi was looking for.

Nintendo gamers buy certain types of games, and that may not necessarily mean Just Dance. A great recent example is Shovel Knight. Don't come and tell me that's like Just Dance Mr. Guillemot.

ZombiU sold 700k
Assassins Creed III and IV sold 250k and 200k
Just Dance 4 and 2014 sold about 250k each
Shovel Knight sold < 100k

Shovel Knight big success. Just Dance also profitable. The others not so much. This is because some games cost way more than others to developer, and since they all sell in the $10-60 range, the more expensive games need higher sales numbers to be profitable. Ubisoft realizes they been wasting money bringing their expensive AAA M games to Nintendo console. They have decided to stop doing that.

People have to understand though the "online" community for games really isn't that big.

The largest online gaming forum is what? NeoGaf? And that's like 130,000 registered accounts. That's a drop in the bucket for game sales.

Just because you hear/sense excitement for something on a message doesn't mean it will get big sales. Wonderful 101, Tearaway, and many other games got good hype on game boards only to suffer mediocre sales.

Thats a very good observation

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Sadly, you are in the minority when it comes to buying AC games for the Wiiu!

The funny thing is, according to VGC, Just Dance has only outsold AC by 80k.

And, even funnier thing is, that's nearly 1.5 times the sales of AC IV: BF on Wii U!

For a moment I thought you were crazy, but I see now you're comparing the latest Just Dance to the latest AC.

I was actually comparing franchise sales. 530k for Just Dance, and 450k for AC, so not quite even 1.2 times higher looking at the whole franchise.

But it's a worthy point, one of these franchises is clearly getting bigger, the other not so much.
