Forums - Nintendo - Pokémon TCG is seemingly heading to iPad

Had it download on my PC for a while, but always thought it would make the perfect mobile app. Hopefully they release an Android app soon too :D

My first reaction-

WHY NOT ANDROID

Poor andriod is always getting the cold shoulder from apps

I don't get why. There are tons of high-end Android tablets and phones out right now, and devs have the ability to limit their games to tablets/phones of certain power/size if needed for compatitiblity.

A Pokemon TCG on Android would sell thousands, if no hundreds of thousands. Ah well, Nintendo's loss if they don't go for it.

I have no idea either, I use to think that Iphones had control of the smartphone market but than I realized that its actually the other way around and Andriods dominate the smartphone market so it really doesnt make sense to me at atleast, as to why apps always arrive late (Or in some cases never) to andriods. If I was developing an app wouldnt you want to initially make your app for the largets market first? Idk maybe its cheaper to develop for IOS or maybe there's some statistics out there that show Iphone users buy more apps, I dont really know much about the mobile development process.

The thing is, iOS usually has more sales from apps, but Japan (probably one of, if not the target audeince) has Google Play on the exact same footing as iOS in terms of app store revenue. It makes no sense for a Japanese company like SE or Namco or Nintendo to not release on Android, but they refuse to anyway.

I don't even think they can use porting costs as an excuse. These are huge companies we are talking about, they could easily afford to port it, it's not like the game has to be developed all over again. The profit gained from an Android version would easily cover the cost of development, and more.

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

Iwata probably did this to shut investors up.

This is probably the 2nd best announcement of 2014! The best being the announcement of the Xbox One version of Goat Simulator of course!

Well, that's news for me. I always thought the Pokémon company wasn't really involved with Nintendo at all when it came to anything other than videogames :/

Nintendo's copyright is on every single pokemon card and movie, so it wouldn't make sense to think otherwise. From what I gather the Pokemon company was created by Nintendo to act as the producing entity of the merchandise/marketing of the Pokemon games and media for Nintendo, Creatures Inc. (owned by Nintendo), and Gamefreak each of which own about 1/3rd of the shares, but since Creatures Inc. is a subsidary of Nintendo, Nintendo owns the controlling (2/3) shares of The Pokemon Company. Nintendo seems to share ownership of the Pokemon IP with The Pokemon Company. So it gets very confusing. We can just simplify it and say that Nintendo gets money from all Pokemon media.

Yeah, this wouldn't happen without Nintendo's blessing but no doubt that the massive nature of the Pokemon brand plays a bigger role in it letting the Pokemon card game be available for mobile. Which technically it already was considering there have been online versions of the Pokemon Trading card game for years.

Day fucking one!!!

If this is free with optional in app purchases then I might download this. I was more interested in collecting the Pokemon cards than playing it back then.

I haven't played with Pokemon cards since I was a kid. I never even knew how the game worked, I just bought the cards because I thought they looked cool.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
