In this thread:

"I'm ok with this and if you have a different opinion you're a whiny bitchy poopyhead!!!"

Assassin's Creed is a series famous for being annualized to the point where diminishing returns setting in is a fear many people have, similarly to Call of Duty. Many fans feel Ubisoft is focusing on Assassin's Creed and Just Dance at the expense of other franchises.

Having 2 games released in one year (and cancelling R6 Patriots in favour for a multiplayer only game) isn't doing anything to calm those fears.

Look at everyone's reaction to NSMBU and NSMB2.

I don't play Assassin Creed so i'm indifferent, but I get the reasons people may be annoyed.

I am just pissed that Ubi is not porting either one of them to Wii U.

It's OK! They will probably port the next Just Dance over to the WiiU!

I'd rather Ubisoft make two different games for each gen than to pigeonhole the PC, PS4, and X1 version. (COD Ghosts, Titanfall, Watchdogs).

I am the Playstation Avenger.

I didn't know there was gonna be 2 of them. Is it the same game? If it's two separate games, I don't get why anyone is bitching about it.

2 completely seperate games. Rogue is set during the 7 Years War where you play as a Templar, Unity is set in Paris during the French Revolution. Unity was built ground-up for current-gen, since people complained that Black Flag was held back by previous gen consoles, while Rogue was built on the Black Flag engine in order to not alienate last gen completely. I actually thought it was a great idea and win-win since most PS4/One users already own a PS3 or 360, but now Ubisoft is getting slammed for it by tons of people and I'm not sure why.

I fully agree assuming both new titles are full length games (in the context of AC games). The only possible way to complain would be if the games were neutered somehow and I doubt it. Better by far than cross gen muck.

I don't get this mentality when some of the same people praise TLOU:R. TLOU:R was released on a new generation so people that didn't have access to the original could play it. Rogue is being released so people who don't yet have new consoles have a chance to play AC without having the main game gimped due to it being cross-gen. In a way, it's the same concept. Giving more people access to a series.

I don't agree.  Early adopters of new consoles are typically savvy hardcore gamers that have owned the previous generation and are upgrading because they want the latest new tech, even if there aren't enough games in the library to justify a new console for the vast majority of people.  So, I think it's the opposite.  The LoU:R is actually selling predominantly to people that owned a PS3, and those people are either re-purchasing the game again because they liked it so much, or they skipped it on PS3 because they knew the PS4 was coming out and a PS4 port was inevitable.  Either way, I don't think it's typically the case that early adopters of new consoles are people that didn't own the previous generation console.  That's usually more indicative of people buying new consoles in the mid-to-late lifespan of a system, when the price of entry is lower and there are a large selections of games at low prices.

Just giving the official Sony reasoning behind it.
