Microsoft exclusive is stupid because almost every gamer has a Windows PC they can play games on. Less incentive to buy their console as why have two devices than can play the same thing.

Nope most people either do most of their gaming on PC or consoles there are very few people that play a lot of games on both platforms.

I wouldn't be so sure, most people I know use both, they play the games they can on console but have to use their PC to play a lot of their favourite MMO's, MOBA's and other experiences which can only be found on PC's. I do this myself, can't play WoW on my PS3 can I?

Lets just point out the obvious. Fans of others platforms like to pretend every Xbox game is on PC so they can say Xbox doesn't have exclusives.

But, isn't the reality that there is not much pretending needed. In real life, there are actually only two major XOne exclusive that are not (or will be within a month) on PC - Forza 5 and Kinect Sports.

So, 60% of so-called "exclusives" are on PC. Of course, it is not every single one, but most people will gladly take those odds and wait out a game for 6-9 months. And hope that, based on history, those percentages will grow higher in favor of PC gaming.

And it is very shallow to call out "fans of other platforms", when this information is available to the entire general population, and to all more casual and brand-agnostic potential customers, which can use this data when choosing a console of their own. Should they buy WiiU or PS4 (depending on their genre preferences) knowing that they cannot play those exclusives anywhere but on those consoles, or should they choose XOne, the most expensive option, which has very few exclusives, and even those are available on other platforms outside console gaming?

Wait 6-9 months for the PC version... or about 7 years and counting in the case of Halo 3.

You think most people don't buy a Xbox console because they're waiting for a PC port? You're out of touch with the average consumer.

The average consumer doesn't care about exclusives by the way. Exclusives account for a relatively small chunk of software sales on Xbox and Playstation consoles.

How much really? The royalties for a console are much more substantial then those for publishing a game on PC. Hell, you don't even have to pay to have a game on Windows, just for it to be branded with xbox.

Just think of all the ways Microsoft is currently monetizing Windows other than the initial price. There is a lot of licensing going on from software to drivers to hardware. So Microsoft is making money on gaming hardware, gaming software, gaming peripherals. They're even making money with gamers looking stuff up on Bing. I'd say their revenue generated by PC gamers might even rival that of their Xbox business if not more.

And the bonus of it all? That way Microsoft makes money from pirates. Something every developer would dream of ;)

Developers also can't do any of that so they are all like this.

Not to mention, the subscriptions of XBL vs PS+.
If I wanna play KZ;SF and TF, why buy a XB1 and PS4 when a PC will give me free internet and a cheaper, better performing, better looking TitanFall?

Yet TF has sold better inspite of a PC option being available and the X1 userbase being smaller.

Like I said before, people don't just buy consoles for exclusives.

What's the best selling games on PS4? Exclusives? Nope.

What's the best selling games on PS4? Exclusives? Nope.

How much did TitanFall sell on PC like 1.5 mil? Thats 1.5 mil XB1s at most that Microsoft has lost.

Even if it had those 1.5 million it would still be behind the WIi U.

Unless you're buying habits are determined by your friends or you don't have midtier current gen PC, there really isn't a reason to buy an XB1.

Multiplats? PS4's are at worst equal, but normally better for the same price. Not to mention the PC versions.

Features? Smart TVs since 2012, http://www.samsung.com/ph/smarttv/voice_control.html

Snap? PIP http://www.samsung.com/ph/smarttv/voice_control.html

The PS4 is in a different league, it doesn't even need games to sell.

The XB1 on the other hand needs exclusives.

Seems you're taking what I said too serious. It's much like the few Xbox fans that waited for MGS4 - after the big amount of 3rd party titles that went multiplatform last gen, it wasn't unreasonable for them to expect more, regardless if the reality was that no such thing would happen.

Thus, Halo and Gears are the perfect examples to place an expectation on, given PC gamers have already had a taste of them on their platform. Some games will come to PC from Xbox, while others won't. That's parallel to the expectations that gamers will probably have from now on.

I get your argument, but its more of a theory.

Ultimately, Halo and Gears games did very well so we can presume the people with genuine interest just bought a Xbox 360. People that are still waiting for PC versions simply have little or no interest in Xbox. Hence, its PC or nothing for them.

You are completely correct. Most people buy consoles for 3rd party games, and with all of those being better on PS4, XOne really needs exclusives in order to entice consumers to consider it. Because when an average consumer sees that a cheaper console is also superior in performance and games on offer, the only thing left is exclusive support. Which in this case is miniscule and amounts to about 2 games per year.

It is very correct that DR3 and Ryse don't give MS one dime but I think most people mean that it doesn't come to another console. Also, the probability that someone uses Windows is way higher than any other operating system, meaning MS is cashing in heavily on that. And yes, you ARE paying MS alot of money, since the price of Windows is included when you buy a PC :).

I personally hope MS will start releasing more of their own bigger games on PC since that is a platform mostly belonging to them. The funny thing is all those fans that refuse to buy a console from MS, but gladly use Windows and hope for MS games to come to PC :).

they get royalties for publishing, royalities that don't exist if someone else publishing, or said game is self published.

That's why Microsoft gets no money from Tomb Raider, for example.
