All award shoes are political and generally nonsense. Look at films, Guardians of the Galaxy is the best film I've seen all year, but it won't even get nominated because it's not right politically

Wii U games might get the odd nomination, but they're not game of the year because that's not the story. Kotaku and other weirder places might given them awards (I don't really know if they deserve them for obvious reasons), but the main sites will probably stay away

Personally, I found Destiny average, but I know others didn't, so it does have a big advantage. GTA V and the Last of Us are disallowed. inFamous released too early, so I guess AC Unity, Far Cry 4, Dragon Age and then CoD Advanced Warfare are the competition

Dragon Age is the only game I can think of with Dark souls 2, Bayonetta 2 and LittlebigPlanet 3 being in with shouts i guess.

The Last of Us Remastered is for the moment GOTY 2014 (see metacritic marks)

Oh GOD i feel ashamed for forgetting about Dark Souls 2!!!

Not everyone has a PS3, but that didn't stop Last of Us from picking up game of the year from seemingly every gamer in existence and their mom.

Personally, I'd argue all of these delays give it a reasonable shot at winning some overall game of the year awards. Wolf Among Us, Dark Souls 2, Mario Kart 8, and South Park have all been highly acclaimed titles released so far, and the rest of the year could throw a few curveballs with the aforementioned Smash Bros and Bayo 2 (little more iffy on this one), Phoenix Wright vs. Professor Layton (longshot but still), Far Cry 4, and maybe one of the Assassin's Creed games (really iffy on this, but who knows). That's a tough enough field to give more than a little competition, even if this is a down year of sorts.
