Forums - Nintendo - Are people actually still satisfied with the 3DS? I'm not.

Yes i agree 3ds need more games this year but.....For the truth it's okey they are setting out Wii U games and 3ds already has it's year.I am sure they will make more great games next year unlike the Vita is doing seriously companion device........THAT is STUPID IF NO AAA GAMES!!!

Yea, maybe Ninty trying to push people to the Wii U. The 3DS was never going to be anything overly spectacular, but it's been solid enough. I think the Wii U is about to take off in the coming year(s).

I don't think so at all. I think it's continue selling at generally the same rate and be succeeded by a new console in holiday 2016.

4 years...doubt it. 2017 at the very earliest.

Not the way the Wii U's selling. They'll make a profit and get out of there, just like with the GBA's three year life cycle.

Not the same thing. The DS was supposed to co-exist with the GBA. It just became really popular.

If you look at the bolded, I never said it was.  I said it's really not that far ahead when it comes to content on the system and in comparison to the PSP and DS libraries, both the Vita and 3DS are a joke.

The PSP had some great games, but it was not better than the 3DS when it was 3 years old.

Yeah it was.  Here's a list, and unlike some lists, these are all games that I own and have played to completion.  It includes a few remakes, but I didn't include any ports in the list(well two are ports from Japan only PC titles so I would say doesn't count.)  I also didn't include any games I haven't played whether I own them or not, or games that are really popular that I'm not much of a fan.  A couple examples of games I don't like much would be Grand Theft Auto Liberty City and Vice City.

Brave Story New Traveler
Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles
Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7
Driver 76
Field Commander
Final Fantasy Anniversary Edition
Gundam Battle Royale
Gundam Battle Chronicle
Gurumin a Monstorous Advance (great game that's finally getting a PC release in the US.)
Jeanne D'arc
The Legend of Heroes A Tear of Vermillion
Mega Man Powered Up
Mega Man Maverick Hunter X
Pursuit Force
Pursuit Force 2
Silent Hill Origins
Star Wars Battlefront Renegade Squadron
Syphon Filter Dark Mirror
Syphon Filter Logan's Shadow
Test Drive Unlimited (open world racing game, 300+ races, no story, there's no playing this to completion I wouldn't think but I did put a lot of time into it.)
Untold Legends Brotherhood of the Blade
Wild ARMs XF
Wipeout Pulse

So yeah, imo, someone who owns both the 3DS and the PSP, the PSP has had more quality releases within its first three years than the 3DS has.  The PSP got a lot of flack for having ports when it launched, but it had a lot of good exclusives.

Same here.

Nintendo should indeed expand, they're sitting on way too much money not to.
I believe they won't until they're more financially stable though.

Still, this being my first year with the Wii U, I don't care as much. The 3DS can stay in the background for a little bit.
Thing is, half a year ago I thought the 3DS had the potential to be my favorite console ever... now that's the feeling I have about the Wii U.

I don't think the Wii U has anthing on what the 3DS had in it's first 3 years. Not even in the same strotosphere.

Never understood why anyone ever took that seriously. It was clearly a direct successor. It was backwards compatible and more powerful. Any talk was just marketing jargon they could fall back on if their new direction didn't work out.

Both handhelds are in a downward spiral as I see it. The software market for portable games has moved to the tablets and smartphones. Nintendo, and Sony need to put out hardware that does games first, but is also capable of making phone calls, and supporting apps from social networks, sports, banking, music, video, productivity.

Both the handheld and console market are in a tough spot as the competition is catching up, and doing so with much more popular hardware, with much more advanced OS's. In the mobile space things are even worse as Phones are more powerful and trick people into thinking they are cheaper due to contracts. Nintedno and Sony can not support hardware all by them selves. They need support from talented developers, and big publishers. Unless they are willing to adapt I feel they will both be pushed out of the mobile games market, and if they are not careful they will find them selves in the same position in the home console market.

As good as Pokemon, Zelda, Metroid, Mario, Donkey Kong, and the rest are, they are no match for the shear amount of software available from the other 95% of developers and publishers.

No they don't. No one will buy a Nintendo phone. The mobile still, while the mobile space is an issue, I still fail to see how publishers think that games like Deus Ex: The Fall won't make a profit on the 3DS for $40, but it will on an ipad for $10. People don't go to cell phones for games like that. I'm pretty sure Shadowgun is a free to play mobile game. It could be sold for $40 on the 3DS and make a bunch of money. Doesn't make sense.

sure it does. 10 bucks vs. 40 bucks. People are more willing to spend 10 dollars than 40. ANd lets be real there are WAY more IOS devices or even Droids than there are 3DS. Not even close. So the pool is much bigger.

lol The 3DS aint no Vita, pal.

When it comes to support, it's getting pretty damn close.

It's pretty much a wash now a days. Vita has more games announced for it, but the 3DS has larger games that will sell more coming.
