Xbox will pass the Wii U easily. Early 2015 at the latest.

The teacher gets to dismiss class...and that is me. While I disagree with the fact that negative press had a huge impact on the Wii's sales, the last point of his argument was that the Wii hurt Nintendo's image in the long run...which is what my argument is about. And as far as I'M CONCERNED, "hardcores" are the people that visit websites like these. The people that go beyond playing the games. This community, along with many other gaming communities, view the Wii negatively, so much so that they basically discredit the fact that it "won" last gen. This negativity has no doubt affected Wii U sales, but Nintendo is steadily winning these people back (and the casuals). My point is, because apparently I have to spell it out for you, is that you CANNOT be so confident that the Xbox One will outsell the Wii U. My argument is slightly based off a point that he made that you failed to address because apparently every argument you get into on this site is a waste of your time. If you don't want to "waste your time", leave, and take your unsupported opinions with you.

Class dismissed...

If anything the WII helped Nintendo's image cause consumers would view Nintendo the winner rather than a loser. What hurt Nintendo's image was making an anti-WII. Someone would have to be clueless to think that the WII U was meant for the "casual gamers" and losing the hardcore crowd was the biggest decline for Nintendo.

What hurts Nintendo most in the long run is making products for a useless crowd that don't buy jack shit. If anything the hardcore gamers don't help Nintendo's bottomline which is their profits and that means a lot for Nintendo staying in business. Sony catering to the hardcore didn't help them in the end either cause they ended up losing money from the PS3. SMDH

But I can be so sure that the Xbox One will outsell the WII U. We have MONTHS of data showing that the X1 is outpacing the WII U. What exactly do you have saying the opposite ?

For a teacher you sure like to avoid bringing up some evidence ... Don't waste my time again.

Someone would have to be clueless to think the Wii U is an "anti-Wii". And I promise, Nintendo "winning" last gen did not help Nintendo's image. Do you really think casuals would know which console sold the best? They have no clue! And I haven't made any points that would need numbers to prove it. And no one ever said that losing the "hardcore crowd" was Nintendo's biggest decline. You're good at spinning people's words, though. At least you know how to do something.

Goodnight and good luck.

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

Whether Nintendo got a bad image with the hardcore or not ISN'T an issue but I can see how it would be hard for some to grasp ...

And yeah, enjoy your night.

1. All of these deals publishers strike, they won't change depending on market totals. Especially since neither console is going to be a bomb. Their games are going to sell great on these consoles no matter what. The money made off these deals are just icing on the cake. And publishers know the money made off them is well worth the potential loss from consumers who don't buy as a result of the deals. Look at last gen. Did the fact that multi plat games typically sold better on 360 prevent the PS3 from getting these deals? No. But suddenly it will happen to MS?

2. Being appealing in more markets won't matter when the Xbone is more appealing in bigger markets.

3. Your logic regarding Halo just doesn't make sense. Who cares if it doesn't sell 9 million, or if it doesn't outsell CoD or Battlefield or Destiny. Are these Japanese WiiU games going to sell 9 million? Are they going to outsell CoD or Battlefield or Destiny? No. Is WiiU even getting most of these games? No.

4. The support is exactly why the WiiU is doomed. Having AAA 3rd party support that might look a tad better on another platform is still a million times better than not having that support at all.

Yeah, those deals actually will change depending on market totals, which is why Sony is getting the better of the exclusive features. Companies will always favor the version of a multiplat that will make them more money. The Playstation Version of Destiny will sell a lot more than the XB1 version, so it's in the dev's best interest to add exclusive bonuses to it to encourage better sales. The only way MS is going to get deals like that is if they pay more for them than Sony + the loss of sales.

XB1 is more appealing in the American market now, but it doesn't mean it will stay that way. They clearly aren't capturing nearly as much of the teen/adult market as they want, and they sure as hell won't capture children and casuals. If Nintendo cashes in on the amiibo they will catch almost all of that demographic.

Just because a culture that's 95% lactose intolerant isn't buying your ice cream doesn't mean they don't like dessert. Nobody has offered the Japanese much that's to their liking outside of handhelds this gen. They didn't just give up, they just aren't appealed to. The first console to actually land a major JRPG is going to prove the Japanese will buy consoles. It may be Sony or Wii U, but It won't be the XB1.

What people are really overlooking is the amiibo. It lets third parties cash in on the smart toy market without having to make their own hardware. If you think third parties don't care about cashing in on something that's grown so rapidly and has so many children and adults interested, you're thick. The amiibo may just be what brings much needed support to Nintendo.

Also, Halo won't do as well this time around as it did on the 360. It's on the inferior system with the smaller install base and there are now more and better alternative for the FPS Genre. The series has been on the decline since Halo 3. And while the Nintendo titles may not individually sell in the order of magnitude that Halo and Gears will in the US, they will collectively sell enough WW to stay compatitive with Microsoft's first party games. And before you say "Nintendo games will only sell to people who already have the Wii U" you better have a good reason why that won't apply to the XB1.

I'm well aware that Metroid hasn't been officially announced yet, but they did talk about planning console and handhed versions of it. They said they'd like Retro to work on it, and Reggie was wearing a Metroid pin after DKC came out. The pins he wears usually provide hints to upcoming titles. Retro has been working on a top secret game since wrapping up DKC, and I really doubt Nintendo was going to double down on karting by putting all of Retro on DKR2.

And don't act like Mario Galaxy's successor isn't eventually coming. Every Nintendo console gets its own flagship mario title. NES: SMB, SNES: SMW. N64: SM64, GC: SMS, Wii: SMG, and whatever the hell they're giving the Wii U. No Super Mario 3D World isn't the big Mario of the Wii U, its part of the 3D spinoffs, Nintendo loving to put the plumber in tons of the damn things.

Zelda, Metroid, Star Fox, Mario Galaxy Successor, and Wii Sports successor are big titles not out yet.

There's also the lower tier exclusives and new IPs that will probably sell well. Looking at you X and Splattoon.

Metroid hasn't been announced. The newest star fox game didn't break 1 million. A Mario Galaxy successor hasn't been announced. WII sports successor had not been announced.

The only one that I can see that has potential is Splatoon and the prequel to X didn't even hit 1 million.

Boy that's a lot of announced titles that your betting on ...

Nintendo said they are working on the next 3D mario as we speak, and that Metroid was not forgotten. This new Starfox is going back to the series roots and has become highly anticipated.  Each Gen usually has two Zelda games each home console (I do hope Hyrule Warriors/WWHD dont count to that total though)

Are we talking about sales of the individual games or the potential to draw in customers? Because heck, people are considering buying a Wii U for the next Fatal Frame.

Can I get a source saying that Nintendo are working on the next 3D mario ? Can I also get a source for Metroid being announced ?

Anticipation =/= System Seller

I doubt it. The X1 is doing poorly even with the big price cut.

Quite the opposite.  The price cut has given the One a vastly better result than than the Wii U has ever seen recently and that is without any big hitters (many to come for Xone though) and the Wii U has MK8 out already.  Also Wii U 3rd party has completetly dried up and the 50mil plus casuals have defected to the tablet market.  XOne wiil have way more X360 converters than the Wii U wiil have of current wii users.  plenty people still use the 360....whilst Wii consoles sit on cabintes collecting dust. It makes sense when you think about it.

Xbox 360 and Xbox One

Every one I know who had a 360 bought ps4 just saying.

Ha ha, what is google.

http://www.gamrreview.com/news/91269/nintendo-already-working-on-new-3d-mario-game/

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/news/a577747/nintendo-plans-to-share-metroid-news-in-the-near-future.html#~oKlRw2cOKLkdr3

Saying that Nintendo has released most of it's system sellers would be to imply that those are what's going to be drawing in customers, to which I reply that many games are doing just that, including Starfox and Fatal Frame.

I love using reaction photos as much as the next guy but thinking that seeing a funny picture will implant your point in my head isnt a good idea. See I can post funny reactions too

It doesn't specify what platform that new 3D mario game will be on ... Just because their talking about plans for the franchise doesn't mean that they formally announced a new entry.

It looks like you didn't see my context. By that definition then every game would be a "system seller" but that's a stretch in the traditional sense.
