Forums - Gaming - Will the XB1 be able to outsell the Wii U from this point on?

He has a really good point though. The Wii had some really great games, but on gaming websites it is generally cast in a negative light. That's something you cannot argue. "Hardcores" look at the Wii and laugh and there's no doubt that it has affected sales of the Wii U. Because Nintendo went for the casual audience with the Wii, they are having a hard time getting back the "hardcores". On top of that, they missed the casual audience, making for less than desirable sales. The point is, even if you don't think that the negative Wii press affected the Wii, it's hard to argue that the Wii's negative press didn't affect the Wii U.

You shrugged off his argument like it was the most ridiculous thing you've ever heard, but to me, what's more ridiculous is how confident you are that the Xbox One will outsell the Wii U. Nobody knows what's going to happen. Am I saying that the Wii U is gonna outsell the Xbox One? Hell no. I have no idea. But at least I don't force my opinions on other people. How about instead of pretending you won the argument, dig up some real reasons you believe the Xbox One will undoubtedly outsell the Wii U. This early in the game, I think you're gonna have a hard time doing that.

@Bold Oh you did not just say that ... Alright then, class is in session cause I have something to teach here.

As far as I'm concerned the "Hardcore" is the extreme minority of selective gamers but let me tell you something. Even if the "Hardcore" were dissastisfied with the WII it would have had NO measurable impact on sales so can you explain how exactly bad press would have affected the WII's sales ?

Just what exactly does negative press with the WII affecting the WII U have to do with the WII's sales ? What exactly is your argument here ?

His argument was ridiculous and what's more is that you've wasted my time seeing as how you gave me a poorly prepared point.

Why shouldn't I be confident that the Xbox One will outsell the WII U ? Unlike the WII U the Xbox One actually has many chances of growth at this stage and it fared well this NPD.

Zelda, Metroid, Star Fox, Mario Galaxy Successor, and Wii Sports successor are big titles not out yet.

There's also the lower tier exclusives and new IPs that will probably sell well. Looking at you X and Splattoon.

Metroid hasn't been announced. The newest star fox game didn't break 1 million. A Mario Galaxy successor hasn't been announced. WII sports successor had not been announced.

The only one that I can see that has potential is Splatoon and the prequel to X didn't even hit 1 million.

Boy that's a lot of announced titles that your betting on ...

While you are betting on titles not being announced. Can't we all just admit that we don't know shit and can only make limited guesses?

No, what I'm betting on is Halo 5 to do the job as well as other 3rd party games like Destiny.

Of course XBO will be 2nd place. Hasn't everyone accepted this by now?

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Apparently not based off the skirmishes that I had in this thread ...

I think you can replace every game they're throwing out with the games that have already come out and get the same arguments from last year lol

The teacher gets to dismiss class...and that is me. While I disagree with the fact that negative press had a huge impact on the Wii's sales, the last point of his argument was that the Wii hurt Nintendo's image in the long run...which is what my argument is about. And as far as I'M CONCERNED, "hardcores" are the people that visit websites like these. The people that go beyond playing the games. This community, along with many other gaming communities, view the Wii negatively, so much so that they basically discredit the fact that it "won" last gen. This negativity has no doubt affected Wii U sales, but Nintendo is steadily winning these people back (and the casuals). My point is, because apparently I have to spell it out for you, is that you CANNOT be so confident that the Xbox One will outsell the Wii U. My argument is slightly based off a point that he made that you failed to address because apparently every argument you get into on this site is a waste of your time. If you don't want to "waste your time", leave, and take your unsupported opinions with you.

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

Ok, good luck on your predictions, just remember that you can never be 100% certain on these things as there are too many factors to put into consideration.

If anything the WII helped Nintendo's image cause consumers would view Nintendo the winner rather than a loser. What hurt Nintendo's image was making an anti-WII. Someone would have to be clueless to think that the WII U was meant for the "casual gamers" and losing the hardcore crowd was the biggest decline for Nintendo.

What hurts Nintendo most in the long run is making products for a useless crowd that don't buy jack shit. If anything the hardcore gamers don't help Nintendo's bottomline which is their profits and that means a lot for Nintendo staying in business. Sony catering to the hardcore didn't help them in the end either cause they ended up losing money from the PS3. SMDH

But I can be so sure that the Xbox One will outsell the WII U. We have MONTHS of data showing that the X1 is outpacing the WII U. What exactly do you have saying the opposite ?

For a teacher you sure like to avoid bringing up some evidence ... Don't waste my time again.
