Forums - Gaming - Will Microsoft ever win a gen?

I am almost scared to ask how any of that was hypocritical LOL

Around the Network

"After all, did Sony try to buy last gen? Apparently so according to your logic. After all, they lost billions."

My response: "That's funny because I don't recall Sony ever resorting moneyhatting tactics, buying timed exclusives, timed exclusive DLC, and forcing parity."

If anything, MS is guilty of buying last gen with those dirty tactics. Won't work this time hence part of the reason why they aren't doing well this gen.

Your response: "Yet, Sony has done all that."

I don't ever recall Sony doing it to such an extent as MS last gen. And parity for the more powerful console? Wait, what?

Gotta read more carefully, my friend. It's hypocritical to criticize other people with "reading comprehension FTL" when you're committing it yourself. Hope this helps you

I suppose anything is possible, but I'm gonna say no. I think Microsoft will be the next to drop out of the console business. Xbox barely outsold Gamecube, half of the 360 numbers are RROD replacements, and the Xbone has been selling at WiiU levels for months.

Why do people still say this? Do you even think about the fact that the Xbox 360 sold MORE software than the PS3, and with only half as many consoles sold I would say that is quite a f***ing impressive feat. Perhaps some of the 360 numbers are actually replacements, but it is definetly not more than 2-3 million (not saying that RROD only happened to 2-3 million, just that only 2-3 million of replacements were counted as sales).

Finally an explanation of sorts! Terribly wrong, of course. But oh well.

The poster I replied to said MS must have been trying to buy gens because they have lost billions. I replied that going by that logic Sony must have been buying last gen because they lost billions with PS3. That's as simple as it was, I'm not going to apologize for you getting so defensive over it, but it was unfortunate.

I read your post perfectly fine. When you quote a conversation someone is having with someone else try to read the whole thing instead of responding to one bit out of context next time. Hope that helps, last time I will reply to you on this matter.

An explanation that you could've easily dug up yourself. After all, I did directly link you the quote tree. And you said the bolded quite some time ago and I asked for evidence, but you copped out saying that you didn't need to. Well, it took a while, but you did it!

Sony realized the potential in the Video Game industry, and it paid of. Do you seriously think they did it becaue they love gamers and playing video games? The lower-level bosses might do, but the executives look at what potential revenue it can give to the company as a whole longterm and then say "Yay" or "Nay". MS work in the exact same way only on a much larger scale and with a slightly different focus.

I do actually feel like Iwata actually really loves video games. And no, im not actually part of this discussion.

So you believe GTA and Final Fantasy were exclusive to the PS2 out of the good heart from the developers? EA didn´t make any sports games for Dreamcast so SEGA had to create their own sporting division. Do you seriously think EA would have skipped SEGA without some money being transferred? The most recent example is Destiny, or do you believe Activision just felt that PS4 owners should have all DLC a year before X1 owners?

Now, don´t get me wrong, they did the right thing and it basically bought them the 6th gen togethter with the DVD capabilities in the PS2. But you must realise this is done in this industry by all parties. Nintendo did it when they dominated, Sony did it when they were the leader and MS did it last gen.

And where has this "forced parity" come from? I have never seen any evidence of that but I guess you have some?

Nintendo didnt pay anyone. They just said "Either you make games for our system only or you get the fuck out"

But I don't think (and I really hope it doesn't) that changes his buisness perspective. In that case, he should be fired right away.
