Sometimes I just watch a 3D video, like the E3 2011 trailers & new episodes of Shaun the Sheep on Nintendo Video, and bootleg 3D movies I've bootleg with the 3DS 3D camera, like Man of Steel & Amazing Spider-Man 1 & R.I.P.D. & so fort.

I either play a 2 speaker sound game, even though the 3DS has virtual surround sound Speakerphones since I have surround sound headphones, specifically; Plantronics Gamecom 777.

I also play the surround sound games, but only if I'm replaying a level or if it's a game like Brain Concetration Training 3D.

I overhear people playing 3DS games, as well as see fellow adults play 3DS games like Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon & Kingdom Hearts 3D.

There was these like 6 or so months where I would wait in long lines at GameStop, just because 1/2 to 2/3 of the people in line either selling their PS Vita or trading it in. Once there was a guy who try to, but didn't like the deal GameStop was giving, so he decided to just try to sell it to any random person as soon as he could find a chump. I'm just glad those long line days at GameStop are over.

I forgot to mention that I originally was only carrying it with Mii for StreetPass, but then I was like; I might as well get some gaming done.

The 3D Camera has come into use in public as well.

I always turn the brightness to 1 & power save mode on & 3D off, for sleep mode, but then the other way around when I use my 3DS. I currently get at least 4 hours on the go with my fully degenerated battery (more then 600 charges now).

You'd be surprised how many girls like gaming or are willing to learn if they like you enough.  My ex hated gaming but after Peggle, she made an awesome effort.  My newest GF isn't a gamer at all but she seems to be interested because she knows I'm into it.  Embrace your geeky side!

1. I rarely play my 3DS in public. I can't recall the last time I did, but I think I've done it. The last time was probably at a restaurant.
The thing is, I don't play my 3DS very much at all anyway. A big reason I got it was so that I'd have something to play whenever I didn't have my consoles or my laptop, which doesn't happen too often. I might play it if I'm on a long car trip, like a month ago when my family drove to Colorado. But I'll typically prefer my PS3 or my PC if I have the option.

2. If I'm in a place where I know people or will see them regularly, I'll be less inclined to play it, because yes, I am slightly afraid of being judged or whatnot. Which doesn't really make sense, because I'm not afraid of being judged in plenty of other contexts. If I am around a bunch of people that I don't know and will never see again, I won't care about being judged and I'll play my 3DS.

3. I would say overall that I don't play my 3DS in public, largely because I don't play my 3DS very often as it is, and when I do I'm usually not in a public place. I played my DS many times in public when I wasn't in college, because I went to public places much more, when I had to go with my parents to do whatever, and I would take my DS to pass the time. But nowadays I don't go in public places a whole lot, and when I do I'm usually studying or hanging out with friends and don't have the opportunity to play my 3DS in public.

3, nope, I wouldnt care what people thought of me, but when I am out in public, I am usually busy doing stuff. Gaming is something I do to relax at home.

1: On the train. At the mall. In restaurants (Denny's is one of our frequent Hunting grounds). In the waiting room at the doctor's office. I suppose that's the extent of it, I wouldn't play my 3DS while walking around. Probably.

2: Fuck no. Though of course I keep the volume low or off if i don't have headphones, I'm not trying to be obnoxious.

One time at Applebee's my waitress asked me what I was playing and started talking about WOW or something. Last time I was at the doctor's, I was sitting next to a man much older than me playing what looked like an RPG on his DS, his son next to him playing a 3DS. Video games are not stigmatized the way you seem to think. Lots of people play games on all kinds of devices. There's absolutely no reason to be ashamed to be playing a 3DS.

Maybe some closed-minded people will look down on you. These people will always exist and they will find reasons to look down on you no matter what you are doing, whether it's the clothes you're wearing, or your accent, or the color of your skin. Ignore these people.

I never play my 3DS in public, but I suppose I would at an airport or someplace like that. I understand what you mean though about the stigma of adults playing Nintendo games today. It's funny to think how much public perception has changed over the years. I recall reading that over half of the people who bought the original GameBoy were adults. I can't see that being the case with the 3DS. I guess today it's only considered acceptable for adults to have Playstations or Xboxes. Oh well

Well there is a good chance that they are judging me and I would expect that (just judging someone, whether for good or bad, based on the fact that they're playing a dedicated handheld game system which isn't something a majority of over 18's do i suppose.  but i don't necesarilly feel a vibe that i am being ashamed or stigmatized no.  Not that I could care less what they thought about me playing a Nintendo system.
