It would have been ridiculous if they took longer to release this gen.

Why it would be ridiculous people complaint that AAA games cost increase a lot each generation longer generation could be good to 3rd party

This gen launch in 2005. I think 7-8 years is long enough.

10 year would not be that bad

Graphics quality had nearly flatlined. It was becoming a standard that 24fps was fine. No, 2 more years would have meant drops to 15 frames per second all the time.

If console games care too much about graphics and framerate they would go to PC,ps3 and Xbox 360 did respectable number until Sony and Microsoft announced Ps4 and Xbox one it better the release next gen when the last gen sales are really low like 2-3 millions

I'm honestly not sure what you're trying to say in the last half there. And I'm not asking for much when I want framerates above 15FPS. 24 is the absolute minimum for playability.

Why release next gen when a lot of people still buy current gen consoles,if you concerned by bad framerate just wait 2 more years ,Devs seem always to prefer better graphics then better framerate releasing next gen the earliest won't change anything

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

All the consoles should have released about a year earlier than they did.

It was fine releasing as it is although its taking a while for the new generation to take off

I disagree, I think that the Wii U at least should have released a year earlier (I think a lot of it's 3rd party woes wouldn't have occurred that way).

The PS4 is clearly selling perfectly well.

And the Xbox One should have launched maybe a 2-3 months earlier, with stronger Kinect support to avoid another embarrassing U-turn.

If the Wii U released a year earlier then the technology inside of it would cost a years worth more making them either lose more money on every console sold (which they've already admitted to sabataging the original wii sales in order to wait until it was profitable) or have a higher price than $300-350, which is already too high for most consumers.

The PS4 is $400...

Sony fans are used to ps4 being expensive just like Apple fans are used to their stuff being expensive. Nintendo fans are used to Nintendo stuff being cheap. That's the problem with having higher priced Nintendo console (even if it is still lower than the competition). It's all about what the individual product fanbase is used to; nothing else matters.

Sorry that's kind of bullshit. GC was more expensive then PS2 when it came out.

300$ is a premium for a device whose utility is pretty limited.

400$ is expensive as well, but when you consider 3rd Parties, Online, etc. its less of an expense.

Especially, with last gen it became Wii as a secondary console and PS360 became a primary console, with lacking hardware and significantly inferior ports, it became a Nintendo machine, a trend continued by the Wii U.

And 700$ would get you a This gen Mid-Ter Rig.

According to this the GC release $100 cheaper than both the ps2 and xbox.

Limited utility? The Wii U's gamepad makes it a whole lot less limited than sony's boring controller that has changed from the ps1 controller about as much as sea turtles have changed over the past 13 years...

Yea... $400 (50-100 more at launch) for a console with a whole lot more games that you will have to buy (that cost money too and they are generally more expensive per game than wii u games). People who buy playstation HAVE to spend more money due to those games, it's not like they save money becasue there are more games lol.

Wii sold more than 360/ps3, how can it be a secondary console? It is more likely that wii was main and one of the other two was secondary, but they all three did very well. Also, the hardware isn't lacking (as has been proven by some games that developers took time with) rather the third parties don't spend the time to optimize the games.

$700 for a device that can't play the best exclusives in the world to many gamers isn't really worth it.

Correction, PS2 was 299 price cut to 199 in 2002, at parity with GC

Worse yet, my I still use the PS2 I bought for 199, while my 99$ Gamecube is definetivly obsolete cept for Smash, thats basically the only reason for GC use nowadays, although Wii's can to..

We aren't talking about how fancy the pads are, we are talking about utility. Wii U is notorious for two things paramount to gaming poor third party and last gen online. I have about 10-20 games on my PS4 right now, most of them free, the other's cross buy. But that is besides the point. The Wii U's third party releases are past now, its not happening anymore. People can buy whatever they want, but when it comes down to simple options, its not even a discussion.

The Wii outselling the PS360 is just another point in my favor, at only 38% marketshare, its definetly not a primary console at all, not to mention it had the worst versions of most if not all multiplats avaliable on the other two. Its more likely, that it was bought in conjuction with the HD twins because it was cheap and easy to use. Plus if the Wii was a primary console, and not simply a fad, it would have a much longer lifetime. Sure it sold the most, but it was also last to start, first to finish, and not in a good way.

Compared to the competition, its lacking. If devs have to spend time with it, it doesn't mean anything, especially when the result would be much better on the competition, that isn't an argument.

Best Exclusives is subjective, and when you have to wait months for them to release it becomes very hard to justify its purchase. Especially if you're a gamer who likes having a backlog.

Not to mention, phones have sold upwards of 600$ at times.

It took them too long to release anyway. And tech will always get better, so if you want the best possible you'll be waiting forever.
