I disagree, I think that the Wii U at least should have released a year earlier (I think a lot of it's 3rd party woes wouldn't have occurred that way).

The PS4 is clearly selling perfectly well.

And the Xbox One should have launched maybe a 2-3 months earlier, with stronger Kinect support to avoid another embarrassing U-turn.

If the Wii U released a year earlier then the technology inside of it would cost a years worth more making them either lose more money on every console sold (which they've already admitted to sabataging the original wii sales in order to wait until it was profitable) or have a higher price than $300-350, which is already too high for most consumers.

That's as maybe, but I think that if they'd have loss led on it a year earlier they could have arrived before tablet gaming became old hat and before the casual market had fully abandoned the Wii idea.

Other than that, move all the Wii U releases forward a year, make an HD Skyward Sword as a cross gen launch title and you have a strong line-up, with big 3rd parties to fill the gaps such as Mass Effect 3.

Of course, it's all moot as time travel isn't possible... yet (QOL?)

The Third Party problem wouldn't be fixed that way, the PS4 and XBO are still more powerful. Although, the droughts could have been avoided, putting Wii U in a better position.

OP: You mean 202X, right? They did release in 20XX...

I don't think that's a good idea. No console ever has lasted 14-15 years, the sales would be too low by 2015/2016. Plus, if each console has the same amount of power, PC would wipe the floor with it. There would be no point in putting Third Party games on PS4/XBO because it can't run the games, and the userbase in Steam is large.

The PS4 is $400...

For all we know that could have been 2013.

It would have been ridiculous if they took longer to release this gen.

Why it would be ridiculous people complaint that AAA games cost increase a lot each generation longer generation could be good to 3rd party

This gen launch in 2005. I think 7-8 years is long enough.

10 year would not be that bad

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Graphics quality had nearly flatlined. It was becoming a standard that 24fps was fine. No, 2 more years would have meant drops to 15 frames per second all the time.

If console games care too much about graphics and framerate they would go to PC,ps3 and Xbox 360 did respectable number until Sony and Microsoft announced Ps4 and Xbox one it better the release next gen when the last gen sales are really low like 2-3 millions
