Sorry that's kind of bullshit. GC was more expensive then PS2 when it came out.
300$ is a premium for a device whose utility is pretty limited.
400$ is expensive as well, but when you consider 3rd Parties, Online, etc. its less of an expense.
Especially, with last gen it became Wii as a secondary console and PS360 became a primary console, with lacking hardware and significantly inferior ports, it became a Nintendo machine, a trend continued by the Wii U.
And 700$ would get you a This gen Mid-Ter Rig.
