Sorry that's kind of bullshit. GC was more expensive then PS2 when it came out. 300$ is a premium for a device whose utility is pretty limited. 400$ is expensive as well, but when you consider 3rd Parties, Online, etc. its less of an expense. Especially, with last gen it became Wii as a secondary console and PS360 became a primary console, with lacking hardware and significantly inferior ports, it became a Nintendo machine, a trend continued by the Wii U. And 700$ would get you a This gen Mid-Ter Rig. |
According to this the GC release $100 cheaper than both the ps2 and xbox.
Limited utility? The Wii U's gamepad makes it a whole lot less limited than sony's boring controller that has changed from the ps1 controller about as much as sea turtles have changed over the past 13 years...
Yea... $400 (50-100 more at launch) for a console with a whole lot more games that you will have to buy (that cost money too and they are generally more expensive per game than wii u games). People who buy playstation HAVE to spend more money due to those games, it's not like they save money becasue there are more games lol.
Wii sold more than 360/ps3, how can it be a secondary console? It is more likely that wii was main and one of the other two was secondary, but they all three did very well. Also, the hardware isn't lacking (as has been proven by some games that developers took time with) rather the third parties don't spend the time to optimize the games.
$700 for a device that can't play the best exclusives in the world to many gamers isn't really worth it.
