Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo should upgrade Devil's Third to Unreal Engine 4

Why is this pointed towards Nintendo? They're the publisher, not the developer. That would be a decision that Valhalla Game Studios has to make.

Not necessarily. Nintendo could insist on it if they really wanted to. They're pulling the money strings for this whole project by my best guess.

I guess, but I just don't think it should be forced on the studio. As long as Valhalla sees a use for it, then sure it would a decent idea to upgrade. There's no point in Nintendo spending extra money if the studio can't make good use of the tools though.

They don't need to do that, the game just doesn't have that big budget like Batman Arkham, Mass Effect and BioShock Infinite, so it will stay like that.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

I don't think so. The new Batman uses UE3

Other than Arkham Knight, what games really are using the "real UE4"?

There's probably dozens of mid-tier games that will be on UE4 that could be ported to Wii U if that were a supported option...

I thought it used UE4?

The Engine doesn't matter as much as you think. Arkham Knight is also UE3 and looks better than Daylight with UE4.

They should improve the animations and textures and it would look ok.

Glad to have it confirmed Arkham Knight is on UE3. Gives me hope for the kind of polish possible for Devil's Third.

Still think Nintendo should fight to get UE4 support on WiiU. Maybe it's not necessary for Devil's Third, but it'd still be a wise move on Nintendo's part if they want any chance to revive third party support.

Well, they did upgrade from Darksiders 2 engine to Unreal Engine 3. This late in time I doubt the developer (not Nintendo) will upgrade towards UE4.

If the Xbox 360 can run CryEngine 3, the Wii U can run UE4
