Forums - Nintendo - Rayman on sale and platformer discussion.

I already beating Rayman Legend, loved it. I bought Assassin Creed 4 from the Ubisoft digital sale on the eShop.

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen.

Origins and Legends are my favorites 2D platformers ever. Though I've recently went back and played the original Rayman and the level design is really damn dickish at times...

To each their own...  I have all the sonic games on genesis, and I just can't get into sonic 2 as much as I can sonic 3.  Granted, i never play sonic 3 without sonic & knuckles locked on, because it's the other half of a complete game.

The invincibility you get with Sonic's shield is perfect for certain enemy-types, and allowing lasers to pass right through you.  When I play Sonic 2, I can't do stuff like that.

That's one of the reasons I hated sonic 4 so much too.  It broke tradition of adding more stages, and more abilities, and just re-imagined 4 stages from past games that we've seen a million times already.  And the physics were awful.

Never really thought of Rayman as being anything like Sonic, though.  It doesn't matter the speed.  Speaking of that, Sonic was just fast when compared to other games of the time.  It, on it's own was not all that fast.  I just have Rayman Origins, and recently bought the '95 game, and rayman 2, on psx and ps2.

Sonic just doesn't feel the same at all to me.  I have the older games.  The controls are tight and responsive.  Rayman is a little floaty.  How a sonic game shouldn't be.  Then there's the misconception that sonic games are supposed to be fast.

Because Labrinth Zone or Marble Zone were fast in Sonic 1, just like Oil Ocean, or Aquatic Ruin Zone in Sonic 2, or Lauch Base, or Sandopolis in Sonic 3.

Sonic's speed has always been listed as his selling point. He's cool, blue, and faster than anything alive.

While the controls aren't tweaked the same way old Sonics are, Rayman is floaty in feel, both games are designed around their respective protagonist's controls.  Both characters are extremely responsive to player input. Just because the controls aren't exactly similar doesn't mean that in the greater scale, Rayman is more like the original Sonics than the latest batch of Sonics, and the speedier Rayman levels are exactly the style Sonic needs right now.

My favorite platformers are Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank and Sly Cooper... Because they have some nice story on it (best Ratchet was the Future series as it had a more obscure story)...

I don't even spend my time playing a game that has no story, I just feel like I'm wasting my time and not learning nothing from the game...

To me this does makes sense, as the less story and the more empty story the game has the more it will appeal to kids/casuals who just wanna rush into the game and play for some few minutes and nothing else....

What I like about games is that they can transfer me to an alternate reality, the more I can feel to it the better it is, if it feels empty I just feel like I'm wasting my time and wanna stop playing ASAP

The Bitch is back! And better then ever! #BritneyReturns

SONY Bring them BACK for PS4 and VITA!

Just gonna bump this as a heads up. Nintendo's Ubisoft eShop sale ends soon, if you want something on it don't forget.

rayman > mario 2d.

but dk is better than both.

ok i got rayman legends and yes the level design is great...just still wish the characters werent so floaty...still a fun game tho worth the 20 i got for it....tho those levels with the frog dude suck!!!!!

Ugh, the murfy levels destroy the flow of the game if you're doing single player. They're much better if you have a friend over but the computer takes its sweet time.

Luckily you can take breaks from them and go to different areas. The chase areas are my favorite. It's really what Sonic should have been.
