My favorite platformers are Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank and Sly Cooper... Because they have some nice story on it (best Ratchet was the Future series as it had a more obscure story)...
I don't even spend my time playing a game that has no story, I just feel like I'm wasting my time and not learning nothing from the game...
To me this does makes sense, as the less story and the more empty story the game has the more it will appeal to kids/casuals who just wanna rush into the game and play for some few minutes and nothing else....
What I like about games is that they can transfer me to an alternate reality, the more I can feel to it the better it is, if it feels empty I just feel like I'm wasting my time and wanna stop playing ASAP
