Many Wii U owners bought the system knowing that at some point a Mario Kart would come out for it.  There could have been 20 new games for the Wii U that same month, Mario Kart 8 would still have sold very well.  It's an awesome game.

Now, how about spending less time criticizing what other have and enjoy what you have.

No, it sold because because Nintendo successfully hyped it beyond belief, it was very well reviewed and it was Mario Kart.

The wii u 2014 drought is a massive disappointment, but the Wii U does have a large enough library of games now to make it not so bad. They had a many special offers for old games on the eshop as well.

Scram kitty and his buddy on rails is a good game. I also enjoyed a number of other eshop games from that period, though scram kitty was the only exclusive. I got both Child of Light (Which was ok) and Stick It To The Man (Which was great).

Well, as a ps4 and wiiu owner, I disagree. Mario kart is great, and always sells well. That doesn't mean people weren't starving for games though, it just would sell regardless. Now, watch dogs, on the other hand, sold well because ps4 fans (of which I am and own one) are starving too. I got watch dogs, and that piece of shit game is a monumental disappointment that I wish I didn't waste my money on. Now if the ps4 had such a wealth of software as you say, that steaming pile of shit wouldn't have broke a million across all consoles. That's an example of a game that sold well to starved owners simply because they were starved. Not mario kart. Mario kart is a 9/10, watch dogs is a 5/10.

Same could be said for Mario kart 8 and the Wii u, almost exactly, which is going through an even worse drought.

I own over 35 Wii U games, i am definitely not starved for games. I did buy MK8 because its fucking amazing!!

Wii U does need more games. Yes.

But it couldn't possibly have anything to do with MK8 being a hotly anticipated game that a lot of people who DIDN'T yet own a Wii U even wanted. Nope. Not at all.
