lol at the people here who didn't read the damn article, or people explaining it in the thread, and are just fishing for a reason to dislike Miyamoto and whine about Nintendo.

Most people already play by themselves anyway. VR is just an extension of that. As far as Miyamoto is concerned processing power don't matter in a console either. Sounds like Balmer on the iPod, iPhone, iPad, Wii remote .... |
I will agree with Miyamoto on this. Processing power doesn't matter a whole lot as long as it has the capabilities to do what you want to do with it. If the main push is to make an ultra realistic game then a high end PC is the way to go, but for consoles and just making a great game power doesn't have a whole lot to do with it. Journey is far from a power pusher but it's a great game and the console had more then enough power to do what the developers wanted to do. Same with World of Goo. How about Southpart Stick of Truth. Little Big Planet. That's not saying that a game can't bring it all together like Last of Us or Uncharted or Mass Effect, but these games would be great even if their graphics weren't as highly detailed as they are.
Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.
Just shows how a-hole Nintendo's attitude is towards the majority of core gamers, who do in fact play by themselves.
On other systems, at least they can do so while connected to other gamers, engaging in some voice-communication and enjoying together.
...
That said, Nintendo does manage to still have the best same room multiplayer games... but they suck at all the rest
Miyamoto is right. It's not there yet and not usable in WiiU's current strategy. VR will be niche I agree. Comparisons to the GamePad are also pretty laughable.

i just hope sony isn't investing too much here. |
that's how people used to describe videogames all through the 90's until very recently
i'm pretty sure if you're playing skyrim for hours, you're not exactly being very social. and would 'being social' improve the game experience? surely yes in a game like smash bros. but absolutely not in something that is a single player experience. cockpit view driving/flying and 1st person games come to mind as examples
so yeah... i don't understand the complaints from people who never tried it and still lack the vision to see it's very strong points
Any tech once priced right can be competitive., yeh you might be in your home playing alone, but that does not mean that you could not be playing against millions of other VR gamers via online multi player. Don't millions of gamers already play their 3DS alone at home, in a corner ?

Says the creator of Zelda...
Another cherry-picked quote taking what was said out of context.
VR is someone putting on goggles playing by themselves. Unless you have two or more people in a corner wearing goggles.
