Yeah but you dont need to be in a corner like you do with vr obviously.

pff corner, my ass will be laying on a beach plaing GT on my morpheus if my girl ever manages to drag me to some boring tropical vacation.

And if Playstation Now comes to the Morpheus, you could be playing Dead Island while you're on the beach.

The gamepad allows for asymetrical local multiplayer experiences. See Nintendo Land and Mario Party 10.

Because gamers want to play on a touch pad?

You could say the same for VR.

Im not saying VR can or can't do something similar, just pointing out that he is wrong in his assessment of the gamepad.

miya mad because when ninty tried vr it bombed harder than Enola Gay.

His assessment isn't necessarily wrong.  It's just looking at it in a certain way.

Miyamoto's assessment is that VR is a solitary experience.  His comment is about the fact, that the gamepad is something that can only be used by one person, in very much the same way VR is a solitary experience, the gamepad also makes for a solitary experience.

The Gamepad is an object whose properties are known. It's a object you can objectively assess. It's not about "looking at it in a certain way". The Gamepad allows for asymetrical local multiplayer in conjonction with Wiimotes. It also allows for local 2 player multiplayer on the Gamepad itself, using only the Gamepad (See Wii Party U). Finally, and obviously, you can use it to play single player games.

His assessment about the Gamepad limits itself to the trivial aspect of a controller (You can use/hold it alone), what is non trivial about the Gamepad and separates it from other controllers is that it's designed to allow new local multiplayer experiences (as well as new single player experiences). Thus, his assessment about the Gamepad is wrong.

Again, I am not trying to say whether Miyamoto is right or wrong on his judgment of VR.

Jesús, can't people read? He is saying VR is not suited to Wii U, not that is bad or Nintendo will never try (again).

Yes and he also says:

"We’ve been doing our own experiments with virtual reality dating back to the Virtual Boy"

"We at Nintendo are interested in VR technology and what it can do"

"So from Nintendo’s perspective, there’s interest in the technology"

He actully says "we know everything about the technology" and "we are ready"

What a bunch of non-sense! I'd trade local multiplayer and/or people being able to watch me play for the immersiveness of VR anyday. And it will be no less social than current single player or online multiplayer experiences, the later of which the market has chosen over local multiplayer for like the last 10 years.

Miyamoto has a point. Unless everybody can see what the player sees, VR will be restricted to single player games with online multiplayer at most, which is the oposite of what Nintendo is trying to do right now.

Now, once technology allows consoles/PCs to drive more than one pair of glasses at the same time, then things will be different.

Project Morpheus says hi!

Are you telling me that Sony will allow 2 (or more) gamers use those VR glasses on the same PS4 while displaying 2 completely different set of images on each pair of glasses? I don't think so.

I would consider watching the video.  Probably not interesting to play, but it could have some interesting ideas for play.

Yes, I saw it when vivster posted it, and the concept is fun... but that's only 1 game. And as the WiiU has proved anything to Nintendo, is that you need more than a fun concept to make a console/device successful.
