Forums - Nintendo - People are underestimating the sales potential of Bayonetta 2 (plus predictions)

I agree it's going to be underestimated. I can see this one potentially selling tens of units.

Now that was just cruel, NoName. Stop being so mean to third-parties.

Zombie U 680k
DonkyK 570k

Anything on U that is +1m in sales has Mario in it. More mature type games like Assasins and Batman did 250k or less.

Id say anything under yet near 1m is very very overly generous, things are not looking positive.

Tropical Freeze has only been out for 5 months though? And WWHD sold a million+

And like I said, now that the fanbase is growing, newer games have a better chance to sell well. I do think ZombiU should have sold more though so that's a bummer.

Fanbase has been growing all this time, just really really slow.  Problem with it selling well is the fanbase is not open to such games, unless ninty published  overly skews sentiment to the posative.

Either way if you look at what games sale on PS4 X1 and what the Wiiu version sales, things are grim. Wind was heavly bundled for quite some time, i doubt Ninty will bundle B2 heavly if at all.  Does not fit their view of what they are what they rep.  This thing is destined for low sales, does not help it was no big franchise before.

The target audience doesn't own a Wii-U and as long as there is this ugly, heavy and oversized tablet, they will not buy one. Nintendo needs to make the tablet smaller and optional in order to sell enough consoles. Even 500k lifetime will be out of reach with such a tiny userbase.

DKC:TF was just released not too long ago. It could do near 1 Million by year's end.

OT: 600k and I'm being realistic.

Yahh it can, but thats Donkey Kong a well established ninty franchise.

It all depends how the amount of advertising and effort on marketing it has. The Wonderful 101 was a new IP, had little to no advertising, and is extremely niche. Bayonetta 2 should sell no less than 500,000 LTD and probably not much more than 1 million since it is a mildly niche game.

Confirmed... 500,000-600,000 is a stupid prediction.
I think 1,200,000 lifetime.

150,000 first week in USA (170,000 NA)

120,000 fist week Japan

70,000 first week Europe

Total:

350,000-400,000

In addition, I notice all that the first Bayonetta for PS3 had have 33,000 before comin in USA... And they have sold 1,130,000 lifetime...

So, for you Bayonetta 2 will sold lifetime ONLY 500,000!?

Please...

I wouldn't take the preorders of the first game as any indication. It was a new IP that was even then very niche and not very well advertised.

I think it will be a big feat if it reaches 1 million. If I look at Donkey Kong or Pikmin who actually have their core fanbase on the Wii U I don't have much trust in Bayonetta's sales.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

It is optional, and I talked about why the whole "target audience isnt there" thing makes little sense.

About all the people talking about sales of 3rd party "hardcore" titles like AC3 and Batman, remember

1) Those sales were affected by "better" versions being available on other systems, which is not the case with this

2) Many of those games had missing features or a lack of support, which soured many people on them and led to them not purchasing it. Also not the case with this.

I'm sticking with 1 million lifetime.

My prediction: 600-700k.
