I wouldn't take the preorders of the first game as any indication. It was a new IP that was even then very niche and not very well advertised.

 

I think it will be a big feat if it reaches 1 million. If I look at Donkey Kong or Pikmin who actually have their core fanbase on the Wii U I don't have much trust in Bayonetta's sales.


And instead it must watch pre order!

instead of giving at the words, i look the number!

And for now the number said that Bayonetta 2 will sold good!

it actually is doing very well compared to bayo 1
it has 30k preorders in US and still has 4 months :D

Bayonetta was an unknown quantity when it originally released.  Platinum Games were reletively unknown, Bayonetta's character design was unique but not the proven marketable male brooding character we usally get in these types of games.

The game was received well critically and word of mouth was positve but it was heavily discounted by retailers to shift units.

Now the franchise has a cult following, Nintendo have backed it with marketing and Platinum are more well known.  I'd expect it to match the original in sales and with Bayonetta 1 getting packed in there is no excuse for people not to buy it.

bayonetta sold 1.13M on ps3 and 0.89M on 360 which both have userbases far more interested in a violent, over-sexualized game and dramatically larger userbase size. B2 will not break 0.89M. not a fucking chance.

It was a niche game on those systems and a high profile one on Wii U.
