Forums - Sales - Is it Possible For PS4 To Win June NPD?... I Believe So!

Of course it is, XB1 might only get a tepid reaction to the price cut, and PS4 will likely do at least 200k.

Before e3, i thought they would win with a big 3rd party announcement, after their poor e3 in term of killer app, it's pretty obvious that they will lose against PS4.

Generation is locked in favor of PS4, even a Halo Collection cant beat a Gta V bundle + Destiny Bundle + probably a Unity Bundle.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

X1 sales might end up like Wii U sales. Not as low but a stable baselane that will stay where it is no matter what kind of games are released.

Also I kinda agree with this. If MS want to get anywhere they need a price advantage on PS4 AND moneyhat something big.

PS4 will probably win, but it will be a lot closer. I doubt we'll see the effects of the price drop until September when major titles start coming out. Not many people are buying consoles now anyways.

Looking at the sales trends, even after E3, Sony winning this month is much more probable than Microsoft. Microsoft not advertising their price drop at E3 was a bad idea.

That was strategic PR, is kinda why there isn't also a big marketing push that somehow goes with these kinda price drops. Its a stealth major price drop it seems. I think they don't want people somehow going, "what? didn't ust come out last year and they are already dropping the price?"

So, they are handling less like a price drop and just more like the introduction of a new cheaper SKU.

That's a pretty bad excuse for not announcing it. Such a major price drop at E3 would give great publicity. Can you imgaine the applause they would have gotten for such an announcement?

If they really cared so much about image, they wouldn't have removed the Kinect in the first place.

So close to launch price drops are negative publicity rather than positive. I know there's the sayiing no such thing as bad publicity. But I'm sure a lot of early XB1 adopters (particularly who didn't want Kinect) aren't too pleased.

That said, they're really heavily advertising the price drop to £349.99 in the UK. I've seen it on prime time TV here.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Looks like a pretty close fight, with Xbox One slightly outperforming the PS4 in Walmart and Gamestop.

The question is; is it possible it'll lose?

The answer is no. It's not even going to be close.

I think the Kinectless SKU had to do with the May sales. People don't want to buy it when they can wait till June 9 and get it $100 cheaper. But yes I do think PS4 will win in the closest yet. September will be a slaughterfest with that Destiny bundle.
