| NintendoPie said: When did 2D supposedly become casual? |
Well, 2D games are more casual friendly because of simple control schemes. When showing games to people without any experience, usually their biggest issues is with the 3D concept of moving with the left stick and controlling the camera at the same time with the second stick. It's more confusing for them in games with 3rd person view (since it makes more sense in 1st person).
Usually, non-experienced players learn way faster platform games, 2D shooters and fighting games. 3rd person 3D games generally result in peope moving with the stick and simply ignoring the camera at the point it becomes unplayable (or simply stop moving to correct the camera).
Edit: Racing games are 3D, but usually casuals don't have issue, probably because it is similar to driving a real car. In the end, the problem is that 3D 3rd person games simply aren't like moving in the real world (like a FPS is). You can face a direction and the camera can face the opposite one, an unnatural behaviour.
