It makes a lot more sense than you applying that figure across the globe. We have shipments and sales trackers to tell us sales are nowhere near 6.6m.

So that settles it. MK8 had a 20%+ attach rate across the rest of the world.

Remember to cut your quote trees.

We already knew it was around 20% from the PR release? 1.2m on a 6m~ userbase.

Seece, how are they arriving at the 20%? I mean wouldn't the WiiU sales LTD need to be 5,8 million? I know they tend to round things up in a way that sounds better for them, but we have the sales at 6,3 million. It's like they're ignoring half a million userbase. Or are we overtracking it big time?

well nintendo said some time ago that 6.17 million wii us have been sold

Seece: Boost from Mario Kart 8 is just ok

Nintendopie: Just "ok", you had a system no one wanted and one game propelled it to great hardware numbers! Whats wrong with you Seece?

Me.  Just "one game" (I dont consider mario kart just a random "one game", most likely the Wii U's most anticipated release)

NintendoPie: Yes just one game, mario kart releasing for the Wii U last week.

Me: Mario kart has shown in the past that it has the ability to move hardware...by like a lot.  Nintendo themselves compared it to the last iteration of Mario Kart, 7, which did a boost of 2.7x for the 3DS.  The Wii U with its low baseline in the US did not have much of a hurdle to jump 400% from a game of this calibur.  Seece's use of" OK" seem more than fine to me.

Oh, you are one of those people who think that since it's Mario Kart it should automatically do gangbusters? Well, no. It's not that easy. Mario Kart is a huge series, but it's also dependant on the system it releases on. MKDD!! did a good bit for GameCube, but the GameCube still flopped. On the other hand, MKWii did a lot. Why? Because it was on the Wii and because of the userbase already available.

For the console it's on and for the userbase available, MK8 did very well. (It is the second best opening for any MK ever, also says Nintendo.)

He is assuming the 20%. It did not come from Nintendo. Nintendo said 1.2m sold and we know it's sold around 6.17m now or more

They're not saying 20% as far as I can tell, that is just the rough figure given te 1.2m sold (or shipped, did we ever find out?) on a 6 - 6.2m~ install base.

Personally I don't know what fliesher is going on about or that he can judge userbase based on such flimsy attach rates from one or two countries.

The game is around 1.2m last time Nintendo said anything, and WiiU was at 6.17m shipped end of March and is probably around 6.3m sold to retail as of now. That's all that needs to be said really.

What is there to think about? The numbers show for themselves that the game should do/ will do gangbusters, despite what the console is doing.  ~1 out of 3 people who gets a piece of Nintendo hardware tend to have mario kart if its released for it.  Its a game that transcend Nintendo's console failures.  Its not just one game, it tends to be the game.

Thats great numbers for Wii U and Nintendo! Lets see how long this bump will last...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

It is "the" game. And it's done it's job so far. Did you not read my ending statement or the OP? Nintendo reports that it's the second fastest selling MK ever and in Seece's OP says that it's attach rate is even better than MK7. It has done it's job. Like I said before, the console it's on matters. And, in this case, the console is toxic.

Okay.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
