Forums - Sales Discussion - Amazon best sellers still shows the X1 selling poorly

Who in their sanity thought a price cut would be enough for MS to regain some supremacy? It wasn't just the with the price tag they messed up! MS needs to do much more than that if they want to compete with the humongous black dad known as ps4

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

Where's the X1 Chalkboard? PS3 owners were put through that from 06-09 . What will save the X1 next?

Is it or had it been on sale. Like I said in another thread.... actually I'll copy and paste.

"I think the only thing that can give false readings is when they put things on sale. Say if 100 people bought the game "Mega Awesome FPS",  and 200 people bought the game "Super Epic Adventure 2". Now if Amazon has 25% of all sales that would mean 25 bought MAFPS and 50 SEA2 from Amazon. But say if they sold MAFPS $10 lower than all other stores then the percentage of all sales would go up, lets say it went up to 55%. So they would of sold 55 games but since MAFPS is still sold the same price as everywhere else it still only sold 25%, 50 games.

So that would mean that even though SEA2 sold more in all stores in total, MAFPS would show higher on Amazon.

Having said that, if you comparing products being sold at RRP or with similar discounts, then it should be more of a fair comparison."

You are really comparing a console by itself against a console that is bundled with a game that is getting hyped like crazy?

Fail!

The console will do better once more games roll out. Like this holiday with some exclusive games.

Selective reading? I just listed all the X1 consoles in the top 100 and all the PS4 consoles in the top 100. If you want to compare the consoles by themselves that don't include bundles go ahead, the figures are there. Standard PS4 is 7th, $399 X1 is 43rd. Is that better?

Of course, the standard ps4 console has been out for how long? It is the same exact price as when it launched. Xbox one @ $400 just launched into the market. Give it time to sell because it wont happen overnight.

A console that has been on the market longer will obviously be doing better on the charts. Just using common sense here.

Interesting theory right there. Pretty brilliant.

But..... both XB1@$399 and PS4 Destiny bundle @$449 came on amazon on the same date.  June 9th. It say it on amazon, "first appeared two days ago".

How does your theory explain one being at #4 and the other being at..... lets just say much much lower.

Again, go read my comment.

Ps4 destiny bundle isn't just a game by itself unlike the $400 xbox one.

Destiny is a game that is being hyped like crazy and it is being bundled with a ps4.....xbox one console is not being bundled with anything.

Now comparing a ps4 destiny bundle against an xbox one bundle with halo 5....now that would be a solid comparison.

Or you could compare it to the titanfall bundle that was hyped to hell and included the game for FREE. Give it a rest dude no winnning this one

I dunno if you are confused or if you are just trying to confuse people. At the ned of the day, this boils own to sales

  • First you say PS4 standalone has been on the market longer thats why its at number 7. So we should give XB1@$400 time to climb up the charts since it just come on the charts 2 days ago.
  • Yet, you dismiss PS4 destiny bundle which is at #4 and also came on the chart same day as XB1, cause its a bundle of a hyped game.

What I am finding shocking is that you can't see how flawed ur logic is..... consider these.

  • XB1@$400 just came on the charts 2 days ago just like destiny PS4 bundle. But destiny PS4 bundle is not going on sale till september. XB1 is available right now. Yet its being outsold by something that isn't going to be avilable for another 3 months.
  • The PS4 destiny bundle is not a price drop, its pretty much the quivalent of buying both seperately.
  • And lastly, it doesn't matter why one is selling better than the other. If this is really a sales discussion, the fact is that right now, the PS4 destiny bundle is selling (at let in pre-orders) much much higher than the XB1 standalone.
  • I woul have assumed, that since the XB1 price drop was announce over 3 weeks ago, theer should be a lot of people waiting to get the standalone once it becme available. Even with a price drop, a more expensive PS4, albeit with a game shouldn't be outselling it so early after availabilty.
  • biggest oversight about your theory is that though that list is updated hourly, its not a total of overall sales acroos the lifetime of a product. If it were things like call of duty ghost on the 360 should be in the top ten and not at 17. That chart measures a rate of sales based on orders in realtime. Thats why things like PSN cards and halo collection are at number 1 and 3 respectively. so what that chart is literally saying, is that the PS4 at #4 and at #7 currently has a higher sales rate than the standalone XB1. And thats not a time thing. Cause even as we speak the standalone XB1 is dropping in sales. Its a 47 now.

Please keep it short next time. We are not in class right now.

We dont know how much the xbox one will sale until we see the NPD so lets just wait.

There aren't any "big" games coming out for a while so don't expect sales to be that high. Exactly why a ps4 bundle with destiny has lots of pre orders.

But we have no way of knowing whether the gap between say #4 and #25 is  adozen units?  50 units?  1,000 units?  10,000 units?  Are people ordering online representative of who is actually buying consoles at this moment?  Initial orders are more likely to get filled online, with bigger pre-order allotments, no driving around looking for units, etc.   But when the relatively affluent early adopters roll through, are the next wave more or less likely to buy online versus GameStop with trade-ins, for example.  (If I'm waiting for price drops and the like, am I more likely to need the extra $20 from trading in last gen games, for example? )

I'm just in the camp, that while I would think it IS indeed indicative of sales ocverall, the extent of it is unknown and silly to guess at.  Too many variables and factors.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

you do realize when the titanfall bundle was available, they had to slash the crap out of pricing right? so that bundle was actually about the same price... even cheaper at some places because product wasn't moving like anticipated, hence the availability of titanfall bundle, even though it was "limited editions"..

Man.. I hate it when your girl has to leave my place to come back to you..
