The Xbox One changes should also be commended rather than criticised as they were fixing their mistakes and it would have been much worse if they had stuck to how they originally planned to do things. |
I agree with you, except that MS shouldn't be commended for the 180. It should still be remembered for what they initially planned. They didn't scrap their plans out of good will.
Commending them would be like commending a developer for fixing his broken game.

Sony made them look like asses at E3 and the world laughed with them. Thats what happened. Yes they changed and because of it I accepted an Xbox One into my posession. Yusuf, Orth and the lot of them defended the Xbox policies until the changes ended up taking place and to this day Yusuf will still defend that bull. He's got to be one of the biggest douchebags in the history of videogames.
I have vague memories of the PS4 launch being advertised with both The Order and Driveclub being featured in the advertisments. To me that seems a bit dishonest considering they wont even be released within a year of the consoles life. Oh and Nintendo promised they had learnt after the 3DS drought lol.
This thread is pointless, every company lies in some way to sell you their product.

So because Nvidia didn't want to get them a better deal, MS had to keep going on losing tons of money... according to some it's how things work when you're a business. Everyone knows MS made the RROD on purpose and didn't do jack*** about it leaving people with faulty consoles and laughed all their way to the bank because xbox gamers didn't get a 3 year warranty... MS were trying to pass a policy that gamers didn't want and now that they're trying to change that in order to give gamers what they are considered untrustworthy because they change their policy? I have a Kinect with my X1 and I don't feel like MS ows me anything because they are now selling two sku, one with Kinect and one without... I would've bought the one with Kinect anyway... should I start not trusting them? So all these but should I trust Sony or Nintendo more? They are always trying to make a console so different that we know third party devs will pass on developing for it. Also they seem to have problems with their controllers, their IPs, while great for what they are, never include things like sim racers, western rpgs, more realistic and gritty look and stories etc... hey but these concerns lead me to not trust Nintendo for my gaming needs, are they bad for that? No, Should I try to convince everyone that they are untrustworthy? No!!! Sony... I had to buy 3 PS2 because of their disc read error... did they do anything for that? No! Did they acknowledge the faulty PS1 and PS2? No! Did they try to sue someone who tried to put another OS in his console? Yes! Were they trying to prevent companies from releasing games on Saturn? Yes! Did they get lazy on the protection for their online resulting in the loss of credit card numbers and online components for a month? Yep! Can I go on for a long time? I sure can... But should all these stop me from enjoying games like Uncharted, The Order, Bayonetta 2 etc? It's incredible how this industry is based on "trust" of gamers more than on what experience these gamers can get. |
Good points but its seems that most people are clueless when it comes to the whole business fiasco between Nvida and MS during the original X-Box which was the main reason it went out of production a bit too early. Also Sony actually got sued over the DRE problem with the PS2 but most people never saw any benefits from the settlement from that lawsuit.

Sony took away the other OS abilities because and that was a dick move, but thats nothing compared to Microsofts complete existence in the industry. Microsoft rushed the development of the 360 because they were so obsessed with beating Sony to the market and gathering third party before them that they risked giving consumers faulty hardware. At one time it was around 60%. Thats literally the worst disaster in the history of gaming and yet time and time again it is downplayed when its far more serious. Typical hardware failure rates are between 10-15%.
Nope the 360 was rushed because of the bad business deal between Nvidia and MS on the orginal X-Box but most people are clueless about that fact or just want to ignore it.

So they lost what 1-2 billions because of RROD, lost a lot of customers, gave away 3years warranty for every consoles sold. What did Sony do with DRE? A big piece of nothing... yep... which is trustworthy? Would you rather MS act like nothing happened like your beloved trustworthy company did? I remember on the rrod fiasco Peter Moore said "Things break!"... he got flamed for saying that but MS still acted accordingly... personaly, making mistakes isn't that bad, not wanting to correct those mistakes is the problem and now imo MS is good at correcting their mistakes... unlike others.

Well, first off, I didn't read the linked article, because I'm a lazy bastard, and your post is long enough as is. Most of the things you refer to as "lies", I would call " pulling a 180." This crap happens all the time, and, in this particular case, making liars of themselves was a good thing, so I'll let it slide. Its actually somewhat comforting to see that they understand that pleasing their customers is more important than keeping their word.
Also, I would argue that they have compensated early adopters -- by selling the standalone Kinect for $200. Its not like the thing is tethered to the console; you can still sell the one you have if you no longer want it, and, with M$ charging so damn much for them, you could probably EBay your current Kinect for somewhere north of $100, bringing the cost of your standalone Xbox down to sub $400. Win, win!
