Forums - Microsoft - Why I dislike Microsoft and why you should think twice about trusting them.

I complain when people put stuff like this up about Nintendo, so for the sake of consistency, I would just like to say that this is pretty ridiculous. Sure, MS has made plenty of poor business decisions but so have Sony and Nintendo.

The first article you post gets mad over PR spin, which can be funny, but as a gamer, why should I care what some PR guy in a suit has to say? That is literally all that blog post is. Sure it may be misleading, but that is pretty much the definition of advertisement.

I also see nothing wrong with the ad you posted. It clearly states in fairly large lettering at the begining that these features are only available with kinect, so what is the issue? It isn't uncommon for commercials to advertise the fully loaded model and then show the price for the cheapest model at the end. Car companies do it all the time. The consumer should do the research themselves if they don't want to be making uninformed decisions.

Anyways, the Original XBox was MS' first foray into game consoles, so a short life cycle wasn't a big deal. They saw the mistakes they made and they weren't making a lot of money (I actually believe they were losing money, but I don't know the specifics of late gen) so they released a new console. It kind of sucks for the consumer but whatever, a four year life cycle isn't really much different than the 5 year cycle of the GC...

"A more recent lie is that MS said that there would never be an XB1 without Kinect." - Well of course they would say that...remember that time where Nintendo denied a new 3DS model, a week before it was announced (or something like that...)? Yeah, that type of thing happens all of the time, and MS gets some leeway because they really didn't expect things to turn out the way they did. Dropping Kinect was neccessary. Of course they would change their strategy when it is not working...that is just smart business. No ambassador program is unfortunate, but ultimately, the "ambassadors" still have their console with Kinect, which isn't decreasing in price (yet) and these are just one of the risks of being an early adopter. Things need to change when strategies aren't working...this is just a side effect of that change. Even still, most Kinect users seem to say that it is the definitive experience and it truly makes things better so they are getting the better experience... Those that paid the extra 100$ for Kinect can just sell it if they don't want it or keep using it to enhance their XBO experience.

"It's not like they can't afford it." - Sir, I don't believe you know how money works. Losing money is not a good thing, and you don't burn money just for fun.

"MS has recently pulled a copycat of the Sony strategy in multiple ways" - Yeah, and? Why should anyone care? Why should I complain that MS started giving out free games like Sony or a more inclusive Live-less experience

I get that you aren't trolling, but your bias turns most of your points into toxic slime..and I thought you said that you would stay away from this type of stuff in your introduction post...

Haters gonna, gonna hate also I don't have time to read all that BS.

I agree to some extent, but which company is the "worst" is always debatable.

From my own point of view I would have preferred if MS never released the Xbox and entered this home console market, I would have preferred if they did some really great PC improvements and focused on luring people to play PC games. Make their OS a really nice gaming system and challenged Steam. Perhaps made their Xbox Games Store for PC, and had exclusives to PC only instead of Xbox/360/One only.

Even though MS more or less killed off the PC gaming market(in my opinion) I will admit that they have pushed it in the more recent years. It was more when the first Xbox was released and most of the 360's lifetime that they killed off the market, if favour of Xbox.

I know the last part of my comment is off-topic, just felt like sharing it. :)

Thanks for the laughs. Do you have a link to a story for the RROD lawsuit I honestly cant find it?

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

You don't have to be biased to dislike someone/something. There is something we call preference.

No you don't.  But in this case, there is some pretty astounding bias going on

Still, he acknowledges that up front.  Stays open from now, but no leway - if it goes to shit I'll lock it.

At the end of the day, MS, Sony, and Nintendo are all corporations. They all care about making money. I will admit that out of the Big 3, MS is the worst. I didn't like how MS, for instance, raised the annual XBL fee to $60 from $50. I also didn't like how the 360 UI eventually became an ad-fest and how MS ditched the core audience after Kinect 1. And of course, no one can forget what MS tried to pull with the X1. Thankfully, the consumers responded and MS made an about face, even if it was about the money and sales.

This isn't to say that Sony and Nintendo are exempted from wrongdoing. I was pretty angry at Sony for the Vita memory cards. The memory card pricedrop did squat. As for Nintendo, I hate how they still keep their systems region locked. Heck, even MS made the X1 region free.

I dislike MS the most because they do more nickel-and-diming tactics than the other two companies. I dislike Sony the least not because they're the "good guys", but that they're the least douchy company of the three.

you seem to forget about the different management Xbox has been subjected to...
Ideas change, get used to it.

Criticizing MS for giving us free games just makes you a 5 star hater.

MS's E3 in 2013 was all about games, will be even better this year.

Sony lied about all kinds of features the PS4 would have (amongst other things (Minecraft at launch!!) , there has been nothing said about them since announced. 1. Game suspension (boot from where you left off) 2. Remote gameplay (play a friends PS4 game through yours) 3. Killzone's actual MP resolution. 4. Sony lying about Watch Dogs resolution.

Sony is the PoS for advertising higher resolution. We need graphical settings that actually make a difference for these consoles games, resolution alone is nothing especially when upscaled.

PC games, resolution makes a lot more difference because it does not get upscaled. Understand the difference and know upscaling both consoles use is not simply stretching the textures.
