Forums - Sales - Is the PS4 Overtracked the Week Ending May 31 2014?

Do you think the PS4 is overtracked for this week?

Yes 47 19.18%

No 196 80.00%

Total:243

There's a reason why the PS4 got the boost the XB1 didn't. Watch Dogs specifically, had exclusive content on PS4, exclusive bundling, and I believe exclusive advertising. XB1 also has a price cut coming right around the corner, AND, it's numbers were going down pretty fast as it was, already.

Add it all together, and yeah, the numbers are completely believable.

Definitely overtracked. No way a multiplat game, even one that Sony marketed and had exclusive content for, sold that many extra PS4's.

Why not? It nearly doubled HW sales in the UK, is it that hard to believe there were similar effects elsewhere?

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

No.

X1 went up 25% with no advertisements.

PS4 went up 66% with exclusive advertisements and bundles for the biggest new gen game so far.

Perfectly reasonable numbers, people questioning them are doing so because PS4 is 4x X1 and they don't like it

There are no Watch Dog PS4 bundles in America. Maybe in Europe, but I highly doubt it would create an increase that big in at the beginning of summer. I'm sure people want to spend their money elsewhere.

It might be, but like Boutros said; WD on PS4 sold nearly 2 million so it wouldn't be that surprising to see an 80k boost.

I dont htink its overtracked. xbox one people are waiting for kinectless SKU. My brother, who's a gamer, thought that watch dogs was a ps4 exclusive from watching it on t.v. almost everyone thinks its an exclusive.

Ltd predictions by the time 9th Gen comes out

Ps4:110million

Xbox one :75 million( was 65)

Wii u: 20 milliion

Except we already know UK sales jumped 94%, which is more than the 66% worldwide jump that VGChartz has

So I was going through some threads and I noticed one about HW sales of the week ending May 31. It stated that the XB1 was at around 50k and the Wii U at 187k and PS4 at 201k. This got me thinking: did Watch Dogs really give PS4 sales a 80k boost? It seems a bit off for a couple of reasons.

1. It isnt an exclusive, its a multiplat. I have never really seen an all console multiplat raise HW sales so high and by 80k.

2. It did not really give XB1 a boost. XB1 only went up around 10k this week which is wierd compared to how much the PS4 went up.

I am not damage controlling or anything. I am happy that the Wii U went up like 600 percent compared to last week and that the PS4 went up too. It just wierd how a multiplat boosted HW sales on PS4 more than Infamous did. It is also wierd how Wii U did not sell better than PS4 but therw is a pretty legit reason for it. The Wii U didnt sell as much because of the bundle only being out for 2 days where as WD was out for a full week.

Is the PS4 overtracked for this week?

No it isnt overtracked. Watch Dogs was solely advertised for PS4, it had exclusive marketing. In Europe it got bundles. Furthermore, PS4 is always undertracked at vgchartz, that is a fact.

You have to pay extra for the bundle than just a console, it isn't just thrown in for free.

No. And i don't see why you'd think that. I actually thought the numbers could be slightly higher. So maybe it's actually a bit undertracked? :P that HAS been the trend, after all..

Why not? It's happened with COD.
