I'm surprised there aren't people saying the Xbox 360. That console did a lot to shape gaming into what it is today, and I wish that I didn't mean that in the most negative sense.

Unarguably original PSone.

Took gaming from kiddi roots to adults, did the then unthinkable and hit 100 million. Ushrerd in 3d graphics, took known franchises to new highs, pushes game to 10m+ sales with out years long bundling. Made gaming cool and socially acceptable for all. Its considerably expended the market.

Sorry, but anyone using the term "manchildren" to describe adults (male or female) who still love cool things they liked as kids? Pretty much one of the most retarded things ever in the existence of human language. What is the defining difference, might I ask, between these so-called (see: nonexistent) "manchildren", and people like most of the folks on this forum today, who are self-identifying nerds, both nostaligic and open proud about their avid love and passion for things they also loved as kids? What is the difference between the exact same thing being something stupid and shameful enough (apparently), to demean someone with such an uncreative, dim term, and then two decades later being considered "cool", "normal", and totally acceptable?

Point being, there never were any "manchildren". There were, and are, gamers. Period.

I say the original NES because without it we might not have consoles. Consoles were dead, dead, dead. Everything was computer - not just PC but also Atari, Amiga and even one or two on the Mac.

Runner up would be mixed the Wii, Sega DreamCast, PS1, Xbox and Xbox 360. They all did something new that changed gaming, but nothing saved gaming from just mouse and keyboard like the original NES.

You're too biased because you love 3D! >:( Nah, I'm kidding. The 3DS is quite an achievement, I must agree, but I still think the Wii did more for the industry.

The playstation 1. It was the creation of an industry juggernaut, made CD technology a must, and proved nintendo's strategy stopped working. It was the first huge multi-purpose game console.

Is the minimum you would expect from someone who is supposed to like video games.

Anyway. these declarations sounded to me like "prensa rosa" and opportunism. Sure Iwata, Miyamoto and Reggie have more than one PS4 and will never come to the arena to say it like a "hey, I love them".

These are different ways of acting towards life.

PS1: First console with impressive 3D graphics. Arcade Games went to everyone's Home with the PS1. :)
