If only considering consoles enjoyed during their time, the SNES was my favorite Nintendo console simply because of games like Super Metroid, Link to the Past, Super Punch Out, Crono Trigger, Street Fighter II, etc.

Since most if not all of my old SNES favorites were playable on the Wii, I suppose that should make it my favorite, but I feel like there was so much wasted potential that I actually managed to develop an irrational sense of resentment towards the platform.

By the end of Wii U's lifespan I expect my list to go:

SNES > Wii > Wii U > N64 > NES > GCN

I do not think that is true, I liked PS2, PS1, N64 quite a bit. But my first console was an Atari and then I played NES, Sega Master System, SNES etc. Basically every major system since NES.

GameCube is the only Nintendo console that never had a truly great Mario platformer or Zelda and even Mario Kart was a little weak.

I think based on that alone it can't be tops. For me the GameCube was kinda like when you order a Coke and the waitress accidentally brings you a Diet Coke ... it tastes similar, but something is just off.

That was the GameCube to me. The Fisher Price design was silly (and pointless) too, along with a lot of bizarre arbitrary decisions -- only one Z-trigger? Why? Because. Only a tiny little d-pad. Why? Because. No online games even though we have a broadband adaptor. Why? Because. We have Resident Evil exclusivity but we've Toon Shaded Zelda. Why? Because. 

At least with the N64 you could say they made a big mistake in misreading the shift to CD-ROM, but otherwise most of their decision making was on point and quite innovative (Rumble Pak? Yes. 4 console ports? Cool. Analog stick? Yup).

Yeah the Gamecube was a bust for me too.

Of all their consoles, it has the least great games. They butchered Zelda, Mario, and Starfox.

It's recent surge in popularity on the internet is due to the people who grew up with it reaching message board age, I reckon.

I could have guessed that Gamecube would win considering most of the people here are in their 20's and thus, Gamecube was their first childhood console.

I'm saddened though that these people couldn't put their bias to bed and realize just how ridiculous that is lol. Gamecube was a fine console, but come on...SNES? N64? I mean, there isn't one single GAME on Gamecube that innovated like OOT and SM64.

Come on Vgchartz...you guys are smarter than this.
