I think based on that alone it can't be tops. For me the GameCube was kinda like when you order a Coke and the waitress accidentally brings you a Diet Coke ... it tastes similar, but something is just off.

That was the GameCube to me. The Fisher Price design was silly (and pointless) too, along with a lot of bizarre arbitrary decisions -- only one Z-trigger? Why? Because. Only a tiny little d-pad. Why? Because. No online games even though we have a broadband adaptor. Why? Because. We have Resident Evil exclusivity but we've Toon Shaded Zelda. Why? Because. 

At least with the N64 you could say they made a big mistake in misreading the shift to CD-ROM, but otherwise most of their decision making was on point and quite innovative (Rumble Pak? Yes. 4 console ports? Cool. Analog stick? Yup). 

Yeah the Gamecube was a bust for me too.

Of all their consoles, it has the least great games. They butchered Zelda, Mario, and Starfox.

It's recent surge in popularity on the internet is due to the people who grew up with it reaching message board age, I reckon.
