It's recent surge in popularity on the internet is due to the people who grew up with it reaching message board age, I reckon. |
Ding ding ding!! We have a winner. I've been saying this for years. I was like 21 when it launched and so, I actually REMEMBER the hate haha.
| prayformojo said: I could have guessed that Gamecube would win considering most of the people here are in their 20's and thus, Gamecube was their first childhood console. I'm saddened though that these people couldn't put their bias to bed and realize just how ridiculous that is lol. Gamecube was a fine console, but come on...SNES? N64? I mean, there isn't one single GAME on Gamecube that innovated like OOT and SM64. Come on Vgchartz...you guys are smarter than this. |
@bold Nonsense I am 21 and the first consoles i played were NES and Atari. Gamecube was like my.... 10th console. I voted N64 due to it being the funnest to me.
Kinda close between the SNES and the N64. The GC and Wii had some great games too, though Wii was held back by being technically inferior to its competitors.

Yeah the Gamecube was a bust for me too. Of all their consoles, it has the least great games. They butchered Zelda, Mario, and Starfox. It's recent surge in popularity on the internet is due to the people who grew up with it reaching message board age, I reckon. |
Agreed with both of you.
GameCube will always be last place for me, unless Nintendo has another console where almost every main series game is a disappointment. It also brought nothing new to the console arena. GameCube had good games, of course, and those in the main series like Sunshine, Double Dash! and Wind Waker were still good, but they just weren't on the same level as the rest. At least to most of those that knew and experienced what had been before.
n64. ive had them all but n64 with 4 controller ports, mario 64, turok and turok 2 multiplayer with the multi controllers was freaking fun as hell! Not to mention the Nwo vs WCW video games that were also fun against friends. tons of memories on that not to mention ocarina of time was a masterpiece for its day.

But the Gamecube is what was popular and happening WHEN your generation were children. That's my point. And obviously, my comment wasn't aimed at you if you picked N64. That console was to 3d gaming what NES was to 2d gaming.
1. Super Nintendo
2. Nintendo Entertainment System
3. Nintendo Gamecube
4. Nintendo 64
5. Nintendo Wii

I picked Gamecube and SNES as my favorite Nintendo consoles. I was born in 1978 and have been playing video games in some form since '81.
To me, the Gamecube was to 3D gaming what the SNES was to 2D gaming. I don't care about who did it first, I care about who did it better, and the Gamecube did it better. My two favorite Zeldas are on Gamecube.
