MK64 for me, four player local mulitplayer, controller was great for that game and made proper use of the analogue stick, tracks were cool, music was nice and visuals were great! Also easily the most entertaining in the series for me. That said; I still haven't played MK8, judging by videos I imagine it could become my new favorite.

Overall, Mario Kart 8 is the best of the bunch, then MK Wii, MK DD, MK64, MK 7, MK DS, SMK and lastly, MKSC.  I've owned them all near rgwie release and it wasn't untill MK 64 that I truly had a blast with tte games.  What's fun is to play Super Mario Kart right after playing MK 8 and see just how far this series has come.

I would say that Sonic All Star Racing Transformed would be the next best kart racer out there and I'd love to see them release nore in that series in the future.

I'm loving Mario Kart 8, and I've never been a fan of the series. I preordered because it was one of the few Wii U games coming out, but I don't regret the purchase at all.

I havent played Mario Kart 8 all that much since I only got it yesterday but the DS one is the best version until know, the online was great, it had the best battle mode in the series, the fantastic mission mode and it was also the first mario kart with retro courses (Im not counting super circuit because it was terrible) that greatly increased playtime

I remember blue shells being pretty annoying in MKDS, but the other items were generally pretty good!

Mario Kart Wii. It was the most polished, had great track design without any auto-win shortcuts, and the online experience was the best on the Wii.
