Forums - Gaming - Pachter goes berserk. Insults questioner. "scumbag" "Idiot" "bastard"

I hate pachter so knowing that he gets properly annoyed by ad-block makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside for using it.

I disable it on a good few sites I visit now, had it off here for a while but there is an apple app advert which opens up another window with audio... I can't have random audio playing from my PC speakers, just a no-go so have it back on here too.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

I use ad block and am feeling like a no-life now :(

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...

I use adblock but if its a site i visit regularly and want to support i and there domain to the ok list thats in adblock.

It can be a great tool without screwing over the content providers you use regularly.

Which is also exactly the point Pachter was making, if there's no money in the internet anymore then the content creators will go somewhere else.

The point pachter was making was that there wouldnt be any 'professional' reviews because they wouldnt do it for free.

The impact of this he makes it sound catastrophic, but all that would change is that there would still be plenty of reviews, they just wouldnt be done with the motive of financial gain.

I really dont think having movie quality audio and video matters in a review. The cheap equipment hobbyists buy to make videos just for fun are more than good enough, while their quality of reviews are actually better than those who seek targets to make money and skew their content accordingly e.g. the CPM deals.

Once again, its hard to tell whether someone who looks like a hobbyist is actually making moeny from their video or not, but assuming a world where there was no option to make money, PLENTY of good reviewers would still be out there making quality reviews.

The point is that a ton of quality and content would be lost with the money, your AngryJoes, Rev3s and Totalbiscuits all couldn't do what they do if they didn't make money with this stuff.

Cut out the money and you're left with a very bleak picture and if you actually believe that isn't the case then I can't help but call you naive. Do you really want to go back to the days of teenagers making videos in their bedrooms being the majority of Youtube content? Cause that's what you get when there is no more money involved in the whole business.

Of course there would still be people left that review games but not only would they be far fewer but the reviews would also be of lower quality (as in production value) and we probably would hardly be getting reviews before games actually release.

Annoying commercials were probably some of the reason people gave up cable tv so fast. They have the most generic mass market relevant products with the most annoying lowest common denominator marketing.

Basically the village idiot's money is good too, and people have short attention spans, so you get the loudest, dumbest commercials about people yelling excitedly about toothpaste, or diapers. Who would willingly put themselves through that? I literally get angry trying to watch these things. No matter how many times in a row they play the same diaper commercial I still won't be interested. Maybe I'm too stubborn.

If they gave me the option to choose the commercial content of things I'm actually interested in, they would get valuable market data, plus a more effective ad targeting. But they won't innovate until people force them too.

But what do I know to question someone associated with the great Dorrito King

Basically, "screw your opinion and give me your wallet, bastard, idiot, scumbag"
Fuck this guy, done with him. The community should ban him allow him to go back to being irrelevant.

Not being willing to support the people that create content on the internet and actually being proud of that is not an opinion that should be validated with a different answer.

Also btw. Pachter is actually one of the few people that does these videos for free, so acting as if he's being greedy here is just hilarious.

I block all ads, they are distracting and annoying and can freeze my computer if a shit-ton come on at once.

don´t you have any websites you visit because you like the content they create? Or the personalities involved, don´t you like youtube?

Blocking ads on those sites is fucking piracy. When you go to the cinema you have to pay for the ticket, when you go to a game you pay for ticket, when you order a cab you pay for the drive. And when you get a job you will demand to be paid just like these people will

Maybe a 15 year old like yourself doesn´t know how economy works, but let me tell watching a 10 sec. is not the worst thing in the world.

I never signed anything where I agreed to watch 30 seconds of annoying crap every time I open a webpage.

I know I'm being a scumbag by doing what I do. With that said, some ads are just too obnoxious.

No you didn´t, but then you should stick forkes into your eyeholes, because ads are everywhere, no matter where you go, and the day will where websites will charge for usage or block ad blocks.

You have to realize that you are not just hurting the content creators you are alo ruining it for everybody else.

btw. you can skip most ads after 5 seconds

P.S. Do you know what would happen if your mummy and daddy wouldn´t get paid for the work they do? Well you wouldn´t be here arguing about adblock right now thats for sure.
