The sole advantage of the 2DS is its lower cost. Both are a bit taxing on the portability side, so that's a wash. If money isn't the issue, XL all the way.

I would say 3ds xl but it depends on if you like the design of the 2ds or not.

But anyway i prefer xl for bigger screens, better battery life and more comfortable to use. 3D feature doesn't matter too much for 3ds games though, i don't even use it

Because it is half the price.

Nintendo says the 2DS is only for ages 6 & under.

I mean there is every reason to get the 3DS XL, except for price.

Anyways, I also say get the 3DS XL.

This is why I dont listen to Australians. They always focus on the wrong stuff.

I've got a 3DS and 3DS XL, I haven't used a 2DS yet, but I'd recommend the 3DS XL based on my experience with the others.

It's nice to have the 3D option for the games that use it well, even if you don't plan on using the feature often.

The 'sweet spot' of the 3D effect is really good for the XL.

It looks better, and the clamshell design feels infinitely safer when cased.

Plus there are plenty of special edition (like the nippled Pikachu edition) of the XL's.

I also recommend getting Kid Icarus Uprising for the 3DS stand that it comes with; it's perfect for stylus-intensive games.

The XL, the 2DS honestly feels and looks like a child's toy.

Though I have a sneaking suspicion a new 3DS model is coming this year.
