Yah because Kinect and Nokia is the only thing Microsoft is working on, right? Or because they are buying a tech/company definitely mean they are not investing at all on R&D to develop those techs? You must certainly believe they bought Kinect 2 from scratch and not just some patent/techs and then developped/invested/iterated on it to come with an totaly different final product?

Like others, Microsoft innovated and/or bought other companies in many areas (including hardware) and you choose to blindly ignore the fact that Sony and others are doing the EXACT same thing just because you like them and want to focus on the innovation part (while doing the opposite for MS). Regarding the bolded part, I hope you are not really thinking that Apple and Sony does not have the same goal?

As far as the "quality" of the products, I believe you need to check the reviews of Microsoft products (in general, including software) and you'll see that the quality is here. They are winning a LOT of quality awards but at the same time being the biggest (in software at least), they are also getting more shit and scrutinity from the Internet which lead to people like you who take their oppinion or perception as a "global" indication of Microsoft's product quality.

Of course you can name failures like the first Xbox 360 etc... But you quickly forget the PS1/PS2 DVD drive failure rate and other thing like that and point out Microsoft only. Microsoft hardware is generaly very good and top quality by the way (for a software company).

This shit about Microsoft "only" buying other companies and not being innovative is a so out of place and what of the most laughable arguments while trying to trash about Microsoft...


As I live and breathe I just bought a Windows mobile phone and it died on me for no apparent reason. No more American made products for me outside of Apple. I switched to LG. LOL @ quality. Their phones dont even have proper apps. The only value their WIndows mobile phones give are the cameras outside of being integrated to the Xbox. Thats not really that big of a deal. Apple does it better.

Well, I would agree with you except the facts work against your theory.  Microsoft was willing to work with Sony.  They wanted to make the software and have Sony make the hardware for a game console.  But Sony would have non of that.  Microsoft makes much more money, like 6 times, for their hardware partners than themselves.

Plus, they could have stopped Android with their patents.  Instead, they get a small fee.

You act like they bought Kinect?  They used that one company's 3D structure light for the first Kinect, and bought a tiny piece of the company.  But all the other stuff and new Kinect is in house.

They have been making hardware since before Steve Balmer started working there in 1980.



 

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

I agree that it is a bad thing that the Kinect is being unbundled. Microsoft claimed that the PS4 was just an upgraded PS3 that offered little new, and that was true. Now, the XBox One is no better, and perhaps a little bit worse.

However, who is to blame for this? Microsoft released the Kinect without a flagship game (Kinect Sports should have been better, should have been bundled, and should have been available at launch), and didn't announce any games to support it since. Few games truly used the Kinect to any real effect. By the way, voice commands are not innovation. Sega did it in Seaman. Nintendo did it in Brain Age. Nintendo even did it, in a very limited capacity, in Mario Party 7, and they did it, to an even more limited capacity, in Zelda.

How can gamers be expected to care about the Kinect when it was largely useless? At best, the Kinect was an interesting TV remote, but my existing remote worked fine.

Innovative hardware without the appropriate software is meaningless (just ask Nintendo), and Microsoft has nobody to blame but themselves for this situation.

I agree even though i highly dislike the kinect, If there is a game that i see great to potential with the kinect then maybe i will most likely enjoy a little more....microsoft never did release a great games for the kinect...except dance central

I feel ya, man. Kinect isn't my thing, as I've yet to see anything I wanted to use it for, but I'd be upset if Nintendo got rid of the tablet controller on Wii U just because a noisy group was complaining about it, so I understand where you're coming from. If they'd actually finished developing their Illumiroom project, I think people would've gone crazy for the device. Don't know if you remember that, but it was the project that used the Kinect to scan your room and have some kind of projector extend the game screen beyond the edge of the tv screen, all over your room. That shit was so cool.

I agree they should have had games out. 

I wonder if them dropping the ball was partly because Don left?  It needed someone to keep them on track.

Plus I don't understand why there isn't a 'KinectTV Party' 'Happy Action' type game for fun and laughs and show off some of the tech.

LOL at kinect being innovative...it adds nothing that we cannot already do with other technology, was a waste,a gimmick, and will NEVER work as a gaming device, everyone saw what a gimmick it was and MS paid for not seeing it.

What a load of BS, every console is just an upgraded one with more features, the ps4 is way more feature rich then ps3 and will be even more as it evolves, please with this nonsense. Voice commands and multi-tasking ps4 can already do without a over priced gimmick.

i agree the gimmick was what gimped the x1 for power and sales....people talking about the ps4 being an upgraded ps3 but that was what people wanted a gaming system thats is an upgrade of the last system not a all in one entertainment system who's specs have issues running games on par with the ps4...microsoft should of made the x1 a gaming console first and then added the other stuff after it
