Forums - Microsoft - Disgusted with the loss of Innovation (Kinect)? (/rant)

If some develops good implementation for it then, I'm it will sell regardless of being unbundled.

Gamers showed and show that they take new things in gaming very skeptically. Better not change their beloved games, just give them some prettier graphics and everything will be fine. Except Morpheus but this is coming from Sony so it must be godlike, of course.

Moderated,

I only owned a PS3 for last gen and a PS4 for this gen and I'm not really interested in it.

I meant the general attitude towards Morpheus, not that every Sony fan has interest in it.

Nope, people were really excited about the prospect of project Natal, but it never came to much with Kinect on 360, thats why gamers were very skeptical of Kinect 2.0

If morpheus is a bust, then gamers again would be very skeptical of a Morpheus 2.0

I have to admit that I like the tech of Kinect 2.0 and its possibilities. It has done close to nothing to gaming, sadly. But I hope that there once will be a game to use the tech in a way that is unique and that is actually fun.

That said VR could also add a lot to gaming, for sure, but I have doubts that either it will cost so much that only a few will have the chance to buy it or it's the doom of new technique which means in principal amazing tech but due to cost a lot of downsides which will be fixed in a new version years later.

yea Sony might be 1 console gen too early with their implementation of VR gaming, as that needs really high resolutions (1080p is said to still be pretty pixelated) and high frame rates (some VR devs said 80fps and up should be the standard, not just 60) - the PS4 hardware as well as the available display technology might not be quite enough to deliver the kind of experience VR needs to be in order to take off

I'm just afraid that with VR - everybody will expect great immersion and fantastic gameplay, and in the end we will get The Fighter Within 2.

I too would've prefered a price cut to removing Kinect, but I know that couldn't happen without MS undergoing big losses.

Also, another point I've seen people saying that I agree with, is that now that the Xbox One is basically a lesser twin of the PS4 at the same price. One of the only thing that the Xbox One had an advantage in was it's Kinect uniqueness (no, the PSCamera wasn't the same, but it looks to be now), and now it doesn't even have that. What else is there?

The Xbox One is weaker than the PS4.
The Xbox One costs the same as the PS4.
The Xbox One has paid Online like the PS4.
The Xbox One has it's own exclusives, so does the PS4.
etc.
What's the advantage? I guess better online maybe, but what else?

Before we start the death march for Kinect, I guess we should wait to see how things shake out. I am sure sales will pick up for the X1 without Kinect but the question will be how many sales will MS have with Kinect. Maybe MS will continue the 450 with a game and Kinect and have the Non - Kinect as the low cost entry SKU.

This way MS can still keep a high value options and a low value options while still not abandoning Kinect as a integral part of their strategy. My take is that the X1 is much less interesting a device without Kinect but then again I also expect MS to make the inclusion of Kinect worth the price. Right now, anyone can make a very convincing case for not having Kinect which is a problem for MS. I feel that MS has had a year to get their message on the advantage of the device so its now time for them to execute. Hopefully MS will have something to show at E3.

i dont get why they are droping kinect, in many countries the ps4 and the xbox one are in the same price, in mexico, brazil, argentina, both cost 700 usd, so it is like getting kinetc for free, or paying another 100 uds for the ps camera, so i think it was a good advantage for xbox. i think the mistake was adding 100 usd in main markets and then justify it by saing it was becouse kinect.
