@MAXking -- Not everyone buys physical copies right? There are group who go full digital. The option for digital forces them to go physical for this game or get stuck with the limitation. Both option whether physical or digital whould have no limitations. Why upgrade the free version digitally to then not be able to fully own the game if you choose to not renew your psn plus account?

I already told you, you can buy digital without the limitation! FFS. the upgrade is 100% optional and not forced on any single person in the whole goddamn world

Show me the link, that says i can buy the digital retail edition for 60$

That doesn't change the fact that the option itself exploits consumer ignorance.

This is incredibly ironic. You are ignorant in the sense that you don't know that there is this option then complain about taken advantage of ignorance

We think you’ll have a lot of fun playing DRIVECLUB and it’s available from 8th October in Europe, digitally via PlayStation Store and on Blu-ray at your local retailer. If you’re an active PlayStation Plus subscriber and have been playing the PlayStation Plus Edition, but decide you want the full DRIVECLUB experience, you can purchase a one-time upgrade for €49.99/$49.99/£42.99.

that's from the EU blog.

game is available on PSN and Retail like any other game

Then the upgrade is optional for those who have PS+.

/thread.

Question, so... lets say Sony gets rid of this option. What does that "fix" or "change" besides screwing people over who have ps+, want to go digital and find value is this deal?

Let me get this straight. Sony can't offer a discount for the game for PS+ subscribers that allows them to own the game without the service?

http://us.playstation.com/playstation-plus/

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/09/10/playstation-plus-faq/

Q: What happens when my PlayStation Plus subscription ends?

A: The content you have downloaded as part of your PlayStation Plus subscription at no charge is only accessible as long as you are an active subscriber. The exceptions are free themes and avatars, which you will continue to have access to, even if you are no longer a subscriber. Anything you have purchased (even if you purchased it at a discount) will remain available to you even if your subscription ends.

You are paying 50$ for a retail game disguised as DLC.

Blantant Ripoff.

@porcupeth --- the free digital version that has no limitation is not the full game. You only get a handful of tracks and cars. To get the full Driveclub experience,, you need to upgrade. Yes theres an option to buy retail ,, but why force gamers to go that route. It should be equal whether you choose to buy the full retail version or upgrade to full digital version.

PS : hope you know there are gamers who go full digital. This gives the dital gamers a finger as once you upgrade to full digital version,, you don't the rights to it

Either this is a huge misunderstanding or typical of when they think they can get away with something they will.

I'll wait until they clear this up before saying too much.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

The amount of justification here is absurd, remove your biases, predilections, and preferences at the door.
If this was Microsoft, the outrage would be widespread. People are still angry about Titan Fall's "exclusivity".

The "option" is BS, remove the upgrade, their is zero problem then.
I am unconcerned with the scale, scenarios, options, no none of that.
The possibility exists, that's the problem, it shouldn't and the fact that it does means you are allowing them to get away with it.

What bias? We all knew the F2P option was coming and MS was the one boasting about it at E3 2013 (probably inspired Sony to do this). If you have PSN+ you get a pretty good preview of the game, plus $10 off when you decide to purchase. No ones complaing about either company either company is doing in this endeavor. No offense to you, but MS has had some pretty anti-consumer policies at the beginning of this generation and had to back track on quite a bit. They paid for it and have turned around the Xbox Ones chances because of it. Don't let animosity cloud your judgement because you might favor one brand.

Stop trying, he refuses to understand reason because hes seeing red trying to blame Sony for something that doesnt exist.

Its a misunderstanding. The full games price is $60, but if you have PSN+ you can try the game for free with ten cars, ten tracks and all the options and if you decide to buy its ten bucks off.
