Forums - Nintendo - What was your biggest issue with the Nintendo Wii?

Mine has got to be the Motion control.

Time and time again it comes down to that technology. I hate it!

Mine was technically motion control, too... but for exactly the opposite reason as you.

It was failure of developers to make proper use of it that was my biggest issue. One of perhaps the worst examples was Little King's Story, which was just begging for a complete motion control scheme, and instead was essentially traditional controls. Even Nintendo didn't release enough games making real use of it.

A related complaint is the lack of use of the other peripherals. How was there no 1080 game using the Balance Board? Or SSX, for that matter?

Developers did make use of the pointer controls moderately well. Other than that, most motion controls were just waggle, and that was the Wii's biggest problem.

you look like a faggot when playing it.

thats why i did not buy one seriously I knew motion controls were just some fad.

what is wrong with gay people? they always look happy. So you hate being happy when you play games?

Lack of storage space in the early years, crappy Virtual Console in its later years

Fucking batteries! I hated the fact that the controllers didn't have built in rechargeable battery packs!

this is the best part. AAs can be found anywhere rechargable packs need to be bought.

I only got a wii a few years after launch when I could get one cheap. When I got it I was both impressed and disappointed. I liked the user interface and many of the Nintendo games but was disappointed by the performance level. Many of the games were not just weak compared to the 360 and PS3 but weak compared to the original xbox. There was an ambition to original xbox games no doubt thanks to its 64MB of memory, PC architecture and built in hard drive that you didn't get on wii. I spent the first few years of wii ownership playing more gamecube games than wii games. That's not true now but for a long time it was. The gamecube had decent not great third party support where as for wii most third party stuff was often casual or quite terrible compared tot he 360 and PS3 versions of the same games.

In the end the wii was something that enabled Nintendo to stay in the console race. A huge success for them but not so much for actual owners. I think the apathy of people to the wii u may be partly due to the legacy of wii.

It's clear the motion controller was a huge success and the experience of playing games using that is something the wii bought fresh to gaming. It's a shame the console itself was so horribly compromised and uncompetitive in performance.

So my big issue with the wii is the performance level and same criticism can be labelled at wii u. In fact you wonder if Nintendo ever bought out a powerful console would consumers believe it was powerful such is their reputation nowadays for weak hardware.

I actually liked the motion controls. They worked okay, I guess. My gripe was with the system's power. A lot of times, the games just looked horrible. Even a shitty movie tie-in game like Bee Movie for the 360 looked better than the best Wii games.

Honestly, the issue of not being adjusted to the new TV technologies, i.e. bad resolution for HD-ready and HD. A lot of the games looked nice, especially on SD. However, they didnt look that nice on the new TV-technology.

I remember playing Brawl and constantly being DCed from the match, and i'm not sure if it was the servers or if my internet wasn't good, but I can play other online games fine so... I'm going to say the servers sucked.

Nintendo Switch FC - SW - 5152 - 6393 - 5140 Please feel free to add me :)

biggest issue was the Wii went mainstream media fast, sold insanely with those evergreen titles never leaving the charts, very difficult for us fanboys back then having to listen to euphoric nintendo fanboys on a weekly basis, tough days, nintendo had 8 out of the top 10 s/ware every week for what seemed like forever

I smell like the dark forest of Dwemereth in the morning mist                                                   fanboy til i'm bankrupt

Something between SD and lack of worthwhile games to play. One company really isn't enough to build up a good library.
Certainly fun for parties though.

I played Red Steel in 4 player local multiplayer and I thought my eyes were about to bleed because of the butt ugly graphics, but okay that was a launch game (which still sucked).

Motion controls were okay when you didn't have to waggle.
