Not in it's later success, but in the beginning it helped. As someone said before some games were made for the 3D effect and it this 'it shouldn't be used for children' doesn't really apply to older ages. The fact that they could price it off so much makes me think the initial price is the problem, and not the 3D. But it's just hard to tell, really.
