Judging from the pictures posted to Miiverse, the vast majority doesn't play their games in 3D. You can actually see this, because people who post screenshots while playing their games in 3D will automatically be posting 3D images. People playing 2D, will post 2D images. Because the 2D people appear to be the majority, I'd say it was the abundance of good games rather than the 3D effect. Sure, there's always those that bought into the 'gimmick', and got it simply because of the 3D.
Personally I don't see why one would not[/] play in 3D. I play with it turned on 100% of the time, it just makes life better. It really does add to the gameplay, because you're just better at judging paths of projectiles or distances to objects. This comes from a person that finds the use of 3D in movies pointless most of the time (probably because watching a movie doesn't require you to be able to see those paths and distances). Needless to say, I hope it's a keeper for Nintendo's future systems.
