That's it I surrender my Nintendo fanboy title. I'm going where the good stuff is, I'm going with Sony.

Give it more time before you surrender nintendo fanboy title.

its been a year and a half

PS3 didn't have shit for about a year and half.  Same could be said about Xbox One and PS4.  I don't see anything on other systems that are must have games yet.

thats you, but most people (judging by sales) would disagree

So, the breakdown:

Most people with Nintendo avatars think this is great because 'they personally are going to be watching it streaming anyway.' Or 'a Smash tournament will be cool!' or 'YAY! Best Buy demos!' (the strongest argument out of the bunch.)

The majority of the rest say: 'This won't get the mainstream attention from the press or people who aren't intense Nintendo fans that it would have gotten if it was a regular conference.'

And the argument against that position is.... 'Smash tournament!'

Most people don't understand. They believe that watching a live event is the same as watching a pre-recorded one just because they are in the other side of the tv/computer.

As a gamer I agree that I have the content, but we are not disscussing this from that side, we are from a bussiness perspective. Nintendo have a great booth and demos at best buy. Yet sales are low, holiday bump was pathetic and the only thing people remind is that Nintendo doesn't have a conference last year.

This is a bussiness, and as a bussiness, this is not the best way.

Now, what if Nintendo made all those events, except the digital one, and change for a live conference. It doesn't need to do one or the other. It can be both.

this, the best buy thing isnt even a good argument IMHO. They've had Wii U in Best Buys since the START and gamestops and targets its done jack

I am quite capable of accepting that things could be done 'differently' for E3.

The question is: is Nintendo in a position to try to be super different about their conference right now?

Why didn't they try this 'experiment' when they were number one instead of when they are struggling to be on track to match their biggest home console failure?

They should try to do EVERYTHING right now: what they are planning on doing PLUS a regular E3 presentation.

This +10000 funny how when Ninty was on top, their e3s were great and it was expected they show up. Now that they are not all of a sudden, e3 isnt a big deal anyway and not showing up is fine...ok

The only funny thing I see is you making up this BS, saying people are saying E3 isn't a big deal. and worse, as if last year wasn't enough of a lesson for this subject, you keep trying to convince others that nintendo isn't showing up at E3. try harder.

you didnt read! go back a couple of posts and actually read, some people are downplaying E3. try harder. ANd no sending in a video is NOT showing up. they are not physically there. is that hard to grasp? Unless they will be there then i stand corrected

They should have had a normal conference along with the Smash Bros. Tournament and everything else.

I see what Nintendo is trying to do here; by being different they believe it will help them stand out but in reality it just shows how out of touch they are. They know E3 is a big event for the industry and for a lot of us in the gaming community. It gives us stuff to talk about, debate and even fight over. While the pressers aren't always the most exciting affairs they are informative and help connect the decision makers within these companies to the general public. They put a face on the brand.

Nintendo is just further pushing themselves out of relevancy with these E3 no shows.

I don't think it really matters at this point, their fate at this point is mostly sealed for this generation IMO. 3DS and Wii U are going to sell what they're going to sell in the end (70-80 mill for the 3DS, 15-20 mill for the Wii U), and an E3 conference (good/bad/whatever) isn't changing that.

Might as well save a few bucks and not have one.

Do you realize press conferences are not part of the E3? E3 is a game convention where people go to demo games. media and business meetings happens backstage. Nintendo is going to be at the E3 this year, but as last year no live demo.

Nintendo will be at E3 just like last year and all the years before. whatever they announce at the digital event will be covered by the media just like last year and all the years before. and demos of the games they show at the digital event will be at E3, as usual.

I think E3 is more for the Press than the Fans.  It hasn't been open to the public for a few years now.

It's to get the press more aware of what you are doing and excieted about a game or something you are promoting.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.
