Now i understand why Neogaf banned VGC

On the other hand they still use those numbers when discusing the situation when there is no other official number.

Using VGC numbers is a bannable offense. You'll have to support that with some evidence.

They use in a very stelth way and the numbers then became "officials" because of repetition.

Look at yesterday MS financial report, the numbers 4/4.1/4.2 where all around that thread.

Eh...maybe because expecting around 0.9-1m on shelves is the reasonable thing to do? I don't see how VGC could account for the whole 4-4.2 range...we only have one number here

Actually, looking at most of ioi's posts about number veracity, you see that he doesn't mean for the numbers to be interpretted as exact.  There is a perfectly understandable margin of error (which is also true for NPDs margin of error - which is slightly smaller due to a larger number of tracked retail sources).

Indeed, week-on-week, most of the arguments in this thread is over the numbers that fall well within the margin, rather than the outliers.

He should elaborate who he was talking about, otherwise i suggest reporting him for stirring trouble.

Kinect Sports 2 bigger hardward seller than the GOTG titanfall
Titanfall couldn't even win a week in March based on NPD figures (I guess)
But with kinect sports 2, xbone has won 2 weeks here.
Gotta love these slow burning titles. Everyone who wanted titanfall had an xbone already
but now Kinect sports 2 is finally attracting teh casuals. Time for MS to dredge teh blue ocean

Yes.

20 million isnt really out of the question, it all depends on how well it doesn in the holidays really, personally i think it will reach 18-19 million shipped. its unlikely that it will reach 20 million, but it can.

Actually, no. XB1 was over tracked in march NPD by 60k, Averging it to be overtracked by 12K weekly, where it sold 62k weekly in reality (on average) and VGC showed it to track 74 on average weekly. thats overtracking it by a 20% margin.

but thats not the point, the margin of error excuse can be said a billion times but it doesnt hide the fatal flaw, which is that in the past month or two, vgc has showed that the xb1 is outselling PS4 in usa, while it hasnt, and it continues to do so when it likely isnt.

Considering the official shipment numbers from MS, these numbers seem quite correct. Impressive to see it that high despite the higher price level. However, the numbers for both consoles aren´t really impressive at this point I for some big news at E3.

What does shipping 5.1m up to the end of March have to do with the sales numbers weekly now? I don't see how we can draw any conclusions from it at all, especially given MS recent statements about halting production for a while.

Ehm, everything? Shipment numbers give us insight into how sales have been historically and also the demand for the console going forward. I do believe PS4 is a bit low on the site, when considering the official numbers from Sony.

Where do these numbers come from? Out of ioi's ass, that's where.

Edit: This user was moderated for this post - Starcraft

I assume this person signed up to VGC just to say this, so I expect we're not going to see this one back even after the ban ends.
