vgchartz bashing is getting a little sad

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I'd say the unreliability of VGC's number the last few months has been more sad ^^;

I said this in the thread Kowen is referring to, and i'm not pulling it back.

20m for PS4 and 10m for Xbox One are "best case scenarios". For me, most probably will be around 18m for PS4 and 9m for Xbox One at the end of the year.

If PS4 had 7m until 1st April. I expect perfectably 10m or more for the rest of the year, because I expect a huge boost christmas sales, like around 5-6m for Nov-Dec, so PS4 "only" needs to sell around 5m between April and October (7 months, 715k per month). With Watch Dogs, TLOU Remastered and Destiny among others launching in that period of time, i think is possible.

Nobody is saying thay are mega accurate and I'm not sure NPD can say that they are mega accurate either tbh.

But to flip flop from metaphorically masturbating over them one week when ps4 numbers look great to throwing toys out of the pram the next is deeply embarrassing for those individuals.

Take the numbers for what they are and if/when more concrete data helps later (ie shipment data) then simply point this out.

Increased price + no major releases = more sales. Seems legit.

You're right, it would be foolish for us to discuss why these numbers seem wrong based on something as trivial as common scene ^^

Free estimations.

VGChartz numbers are free estimations with a margin of error. Some of the OTT reactions in this thread are facepalm worthy.

Take the numbers for what they are. Estimations.

Estimation shouldn't be so bad! Nothing has been poiting to these numbers. At least make it credible. Otherwise why bother?

If there were other Weekly numbers to compare with, or if you were paying for VGC numbers, sure... Be outraged.

To be outraged at free Weekly, Global estimations that get adjusted up and down literally every Week is taking things over the line. What other videogame sales tracker offers what VGChartz offers?

You are absolutely correct. However, margin of error of those estimations is sometimes really poor.

Sometimes it seems that we would get more accurate numbers from random.org than from vgc.com.

Stating something doesn't mean you have to outraged about it. And we have those numbers. NPD, Chart track and the japanese trackers all conflict with the numbers this website has been providing for the last couple of months. We're closest to the japanese one's, but the rest? Not so much.
