This forum often talks about X1 vs PS4 being a close fight in the US right now and possibly for the generation, but the UK is shaping up to be a very close fight right now as well.

Thanks to some aggressive price cuts,from Microsoft themsleves and retail chains, you can now get and X1 with Titanfall for the same price as a standalone PS4.

This already appears to be having an effect with some retailers, as currently X1 Titanfall bundle sits at #2 on Amazon.co.uk bestsellers list with PS4 at #7.  This is not to say Amazon is necessarily an indicator of the entire market, because we know it isn't, but it is an interesting example, as the X1 has never before been above PS4 when Sony's system has been in stock.

So, who do you think will win this gen in the UK?  Will Microsoft's price cuts, advertising and the fact that UK is already a strong market for them help them win in the end, or do you think PS4 will stay on top?

UK will be tight. We really got behind the 360 in a big way and so there will be a lot more brand loyalty here than most likely the rest of Europe.

I think it depends how the significant exclusives go down in the long term as in cases like this, it really is the exclusives that are going to sway someone one way or the other.

One thing I did notice for the first time yesterday was that PS4 was available in all shops. So we are now going to start seeing true sales, rather than "sold out" sales for the PS4.

In the UK especially, a lot of 360 owners migrated to PS4 and so we can expect many of them to buy the last of us when it releases which should help maintain PS4's momentum.

During the week of Titanfall's release, the Xbox one was ahead by 10,000 units.However the PS4 currently has a 230,000+ lead. For the Xbox One to overtake the PS4 it would have to have a constant supply of exclusive games in order to be consistently ahead of PS4 week-by-week.

Of course this is over the entire generation so it really is anyone's game.

Honestly I'm surprised how much the X1 is hanging behind in UK.
March has the PS4 and PS4 Infamous bundle at 11 and 19 while the X1 Titanfall bundle is at 29. Even though this should've been the month the X1 can pull ahead.
It looks even worse in April.

Sure those indicators are far from rock solid but I'm still surprised and my confidence for X1 in UK is waning.

Ok, jokes aside for me even in UK PS4 will be the winner... like in USA.

I think a big problem for the X1 is the price. It needs to get below £300 ASAP.

Really depends on how aggressive MS is going to be regarding price, with the pricecut to the bundle there is pretty much no doubt in my mind that the X1 won this week in the UK and will probably win next week as well, but I don't think that this deal is going to continue for much longer.

I dont think it will though. Its a different market to the US, because Sony have software here that will be significant enough to match Halo with the eventual Gran Turismo 7.

Fully expect it to be close either way.
