Forums - Gaming Discussion - Making KH 1.5 and 2.5 HD as exclusives makes no sense

These games make more sense on Xbox than Wii U (AT THE MOMENT) since KH 3 is actually confirmed for that system. Honestly, the best move would to release on all three, but... Square Enix logic. That, or, like Fusion stated, Sony paid for it.

Because Square Enix is run by a bunch of morons.

You could say that about any company who decides to make their game one platform exclusive

I know right? I mean EA could of made a lot more money off of Titanfall if they had released it on PS4 also. Makes no sense.

Don't forget 343 with Halo and Lionhead for Fable. They would have sold way more if it were multiplat. Indeed makes no sense

Those are first party games irrelevant.

How is it irrelevant? It's a fact if a game were multiplat it would sell more.

It's irrelevant because it'll never happen.

The point was they would make more money. I do not expect them to go multi.

its not that xbox is not a good place for JRPGs its just that PS is a MUCH better place for them.

bold: comparing to xbox, yes, but it's an irrelevant fact.

to your initial OP? Maybe it is, but i was just talking to the people who kept comparing PS3 to 360 in JRpgs

That's not necessarily true. Look at every game that went multiplat from gen 6 to gen 7. GTA, DMC, Tekken, FF etc....all sold the same or roughly the same (combined) as the previous gen's exclusive version. And games that stayed exclusive (1st party or otherwise) sold roughly the same as well. MGS4, God of War, Ratchet and Clank, and more. Couldn't name many Xbox exclusives from gen 6 to gen 7 off the top of the head because it had less games......and there was a massive jump in total unit sales from Xbox to X360. But anyway, I've said this for most of this gen: going multiplatform doesn't increase sales or "make the game available to the widest audience". Based on sales of franchises that went multiplat, all it did was split the fanbase

I agree.

The HD collections should be coming at least to the Wii U aswell. Kingdom hearts has been fractured between Sony and Nintendo platforms, it would make sense to follow on both those segments.

I can understand it not beeing on the 360 if the 3rd game wasnt coming to the X1. Its a mess quite honestly.

Either stick to only one if you want your fans condensed or just do the opposite and spread out as much as you can.

Its not fractured at all. They are made by different teams. Main Line Series is on PlayStation Console, spin offs are on portables, its clear as day. KHIII is the only exception and that hasn't released yet.

Yea, the only really really canon game not on a PS console is Dream Drop Distance. KH1 and 2 obviously were on PS2 and BBS is on PSP. 3D is the only one you really need that's not on a PS console. CoM, originally when it came out, was not necessarily a big deal, as all the major points were integrated and recapped in KH2. Maybe KH3 will do that, making 3D be "not needed", but I doubt that.

Well, if you believe that then so be it. But a franchise is a franchise. Its not like the portable ones arent called Kingdom Hearts or are irrelevant to the main series storyline.

But to poke holes, KH3 will be on X1. Spin offs are on different portables (3 different ones and there was even one on mobile). It really isnt as clear.

The Kingdom Hearts franchise is scattered among several consoles: ps2, GBA, psp, DS and 3DS. Because of that, it's probable that only some diehard fans have played all the games in the franchise. With that in mind, it makes complete sense to develop two HD collections, featuring 6 out of 7 games in the franchise. What makes piss poor sense is to make said collections exclusive to one platform. it's completely counter productive to the basic idea of allowing several people who couldn't play all the titles to do so. it's even a great option to bring new fans but the potential get's wasted.

The correct move would be releasing 1.5 and 2.5 on both Wii U, xbox 360 and ps3, allowing the biggest possible audience to play those six games and get ready for Kingdom Hearts 3.

Same goes for Bayonetta 2, but I don't expect that to ever happen.

How many Wii U ports were successful honestly?
Considering this is a re-release, the most assured audience is the PS3. Its that simple? Why take a risk on current gen and 360 which has very little Japanese presence?
