I guess PS4 is powerful enough to run PCSX2 finally lol.

I don't see why they would not make older discs be able to be read. They'd have to go the extra mile and specifically not allow it. Believe me, the majority of consumers who buy the PS4 will not have a single PS1/2 game at home. They would still make a ton of money on the PSN.

They could even expand PS+ by offering older games when there is a game drought. It would really be Win-Win for everybody.

Dark Cloud, Dark Chronicle and Rogue Legacy pleaaaaaaaaase Sony. So annoyed I missed out on them the first time when I was too young to realise how good they were, though I wonder if this is going to be restricted to Sony exclusives.

PS1 games on the other hand isn't really exciting for me. Aside from some platformers I can't imagine there is many games that hold up well now.

rogue galaxy eas an epic rpg. it had gorgepus graphics, good story and no load times from memort. the only bad part with the game was that it was too easy. its very hard to die in the game. i hope they do a remake of the first dark cloud as it a classic back in those days.

Ahh shit I got the name wrong, Rogue Legacy was that indie game from last year.

It would be awesome if Sony made deals to release these games again though, and many others too.  PS2 was such a golden age for JRPGs

I really hope this is put your disk in the console BC, got i kept all my PS1 and PS2 games, the only consoles i have ever done that with.

Same here--and the PS2 games all became glorified coasters when my BC PS3 died last year.

i'd be happy if just the ratchet and clank collection i purchased on psn carried over.

...i'd probably go and buy the kingdom hearts collections too and i really meant to get those but then kind of ran out of time on my ps3.

Awesome news - Hope PS1/PS2 titles get trophy support. :)

Nowayz you'll be able to play PSOne/2 discs.

It's kind of funny that if this is true, to me this is probably the biggest selling point of the PS4. It's not the only selling point but it definitely is a big one.

That's not native. They didn't go in and recreate all of the graphical elements of the games. That's a really good upscaler and engine over the existing 480p native game.

I'm pretty sure rendering resolution is, from a technical point of view, just a setting composed of two integers, and changing two integers shouldn't be very hard. Upscaling always leaves a blurrier image than native rendering, and AFAIK emulators leave a crips image. The reason upscaling is widely used is because there's not enough power to render stuff in higher resolutions but for PS1 and PS2 games, there's probably more than enough power because they require relatively little of it by today's standards.
