MK8 and Smash are the make or break software, but those other games aren't moving hardware (case in point: the Wii U had Sonic last year too, big difference it made). 

Honestly it all boils down to Mario Kart 8 ... if MK8 does not succeed in boosting the Wii U long term above GameCube levels, then Smash is not going to do squat. 

People don't buy hardware anymore just based on lineups ... the Wii U already has a better software library than either the PS4 or XB1 but is getting spanked in sales despite being even cheaper. There are fundamental problems with the Wii U that go deeper than just software. 

is this the same nasty mainstream media that propelled the "Wii" to 100m and nintendo best ever presence in the home lounge,not sure how they went wrong with the successor to the "Wii" and all that lost marketshare,but blame nintendo

They don't care about competition but they do care about making money and selling less than 10 million consoles per generation will only help their cause in being handheld only

Nintendo doesn't care what anybody thinks, especially what other gaming companies think. It's been that way forever. As long as Nintendo keeps making money they won't change, if they stop making money they'll just find another business. Wouldn't be the first time in the company's history.

And off-topic, that advertisement was stupid anyways but unfortunately everyone fell for these kind of things. For starters; as if good games couldn't be produced on cartridges. Secondly, cartridges > CD's that gen. While I loved the games, I hated the PS1's discs. Unreliable, both in functionality as in longevity and they were slow. Such a chore, I'd take the N64's cartridge any day. It was a humorous add I'd give it that.

Yes, we talked about this lots of times but I still don't quite agree with your motion that third party support is the way to go. If Nintendo had to rely on third party support to drive their bussiness then it would seem that they are ready to surrender because there is no way they are getting their support. We already have 4 consecutive consoles that prove that point (N64, GC, Wii, Wii U), third parties are no longer willing to publish games on Nintendo consoles (For the most part) so if they had to rely on them to thrive they should surrender immediately.

I belive the best idea would be to reinforce their internal studios and think hardly on buying some studios to push their system by first party quality software.

That advert was nasty indeed, the first time I saw it I was quite surprised by it! And yeah I agree, CD's suck for the most part, none of my PS1 games works anymore .

I do not think the industry needs allt he big three. It definitely needs Sony and Nintendo though. And a new player that would fill the creative hole that SEGA has left. Not the current SEGA however, as that is less than a shadow of its former self.

As a Die hard Sony and Sega fan here's my input on Nintendo. They will not and never will fall out of the industry. Yes Sony is a powerhouse and poses as the only real threat to Nintendo, but they respect each other as contenders and know it's beneficial both remain in the market. On strictly Nintendo as a Sega fan, I have nothing but respect for Nintendo and all their IP's.. People say Nintendo needs more and more and more. I say no, they don't.. Let them keep milking their games, what does it matter as long as we get those great games.. Everyone in the industry seems to be doing it and you the same consumer eat it up with a blind eye, but when Nintendo does it you guys light them up. Don't keep demanding more from them, bcuz Sega poured their hearts into the Dreamcast, and what did the consumers? A game console with a DVD player. The Wii U is disappointing, but Nintendo can easily fix their problems. They've been in this industry for over 25 years. Let's see what they have for E3.
